Post by: shiv on August 13, 2025, 03:15:31 am
I'm pleased to release a simple utility app that simplifies batch voice files processing and creates Vasudan speech overlays.

Download (https://github.com/xShivan/randspeech/releases/download/v1.0.0/randspeech-v1.0.0.zip)

Features:
- GUI or command line mode
- Vasudan speech generation
- Batch processing with message beep prepending/appending and/or mixing with Vasudan speech
- mp3/wav to ogg conversion

Very interesting.

The Vasudan speech is created from the generic sample that came with the FREDdocs, I take it? So it will be uniform with no variation if multiple vasudan characters are required?

Speech samples are taken from snippets on the FS Port site extras section (https://fsport.hard-light.net/website/). I believe those snippets were extracted from FS1/FS2 campaigns messages and cleaned up.

Yeah, it will always sound similiar, but each file will be 'unique' because of the randomization. In TSS2 I use different human speech overlays so the final effect is acceptable and you can clearly distinguish which Vasudan speaks at the moment :D
