Due to a lack of English-Latin Translation, i could only come up with the name Adversarius meaning enemy, really what i wanted was Razored Enemy in latin. The original picture was a doodle so to speak, this is just a copy, plus some alterations.
Their claws are about a metre long, made out of a extremely strong alloy, and the surface is covered in billions of tiny razors(about 1/10 the width of a hair), the creature also excretes a diamond crystal over its claws, making them extremely hard. It posses both an internal bone structure and an external exoskeleton which is highly resistant to heat and penetration. Its visible extends into the infra-red range. Namely something i came up for as a 4th(out of the main 3) race in NW3.

Dude, your hand-writting is almost as retarded as mine.
Anyway: It's head needs to be bigger and nastier. More upper-body strength.
-
no manipulators?
-
That would detract from the mystery of how they actually build stuff :) and also makes it look odd.
HINT:The Dark spot on its belly is actually soft.
-
Those wings on the back?
Ugh, not another human face. Other than that, not bad.
-
The four-legged thing is a nifty idea, I had a similar idea for an RPG species called the Chalgasi.
I think they should have manipulative 7-fingered hands (5 fingers and 2 thumbs each) on their lower arms (which should be longer). Also IMO you should ditch the wings in favor of excessive jumping capability.
-
I sure hope its not supposed to be a menacingly scary race... because it looks like it is a happy fairy dancing in a field of pansies.
-
It's a Vore with wings and claws! Run!

Sure, it only has 1 metre long claws...

There's no inspiration anywhere, well no consious inspiration. i started doodling claws and then added a body to fit them.
This lastest one, is 2d totally, there is one back leg, but 2 front legs, 2 top arms, 2 middle arms and 2 lower arms.

Hey its not bad but it isnt fierce enough... I think its the position you have it in. you should try a 3d sketch... It would take some practice but you'll be extrememly happy with the results when you have that skill. Good start, possibly develop it some more? I dunno... :D
-
Its my current obsession. Im just fleshing its main features out, changing its stance will be the next step, naturally i cant drawn something too complicated inbetween writing stuff down during a lesson.
-
hmm... i wonder how the Advies would fare in a Hallfight-like situation, against Shivans...
-
They'd certainly be able to cut the shivan in half without much trouble. They kill anything that is not part of their subgenus.
-
Rules of alien-making:
1. Anything with recognizably human features or profile is less scary than humorously B-movie-like. Exception: Giger's Alien. Because that thing kicked ass enough with enough novel ideas to offset the crappiness. Nobody, outside of Giger and schizophrenics, will be able to repeat this performance.
2. It's not just out to kill people. NOTHING in the Universe is created specifically to destroy something it's never been in remote contact with.
3. Look at every mainstream alien ever made. Do something completely different, unless all you want is comments such as "Wow! That looks like (insert popular alien race here)!" Fortunately, the vast majority of these are crappy TV aliens, and fall under the category of #1- unconvincing.
4. If they speak English, you aren't cut out for this sort of thing. Quit before you are mocked senseless.
5. Aliens do best when they have one thing going for them massively, and that one thing only- Aliens don't have any real technology, Shivans don't innovate and are crap without their shields, etc. You can't be good at everything at once.
-
That creature has no human features, it has a head which looks like a T-Rex's head, with an extended skull to fit its larger brain. Most things really can look vaguely human, as its pure physics that some things must be a certain way(like eyes pointing forward for depth perception).
As for why they kill everything, well what else would they do? These creature's main goal, it to eat. To power its powerful muscles.

Shivans? Or, better yet, how about the Beast? Or Zerg? Or those amoeboid ****ers from that really cheesy show? You know, not everything even HAS eyes (and that's jsut on earth), and most herbivores actually have them way to the sides for maximum viewing area. I dunno, I just can't stand aliens that look like a guy in a suit and Halloween mask.
If their only compulsion is to eat, one would wonder how they made it into space.
-
Bah.
-
I completely agree with the giegers alien part, except the bit where it gets blown out of the shuttle, there it looks immensly guy in a suit fake. Aliens did a good job by putting circus acrobatics people in them and having them leap around and pull inhumn poses.

Color this guy a little differently and it would look like Baal from the video game Diablo II. ;) :D

I think scary aliens come from the atmosphere they are in rather than what they do and what they are.
The BLOB! is scary! (all of its victims were uspecting and there was that music and the impending sense of dread as you know he gonna die and there ain't nothing YOU can do!) Put th eblob out in a filed on pansies with some jazz and its not scary. Surround a Shivan with 100 terrans with grins on face and it not scary. At least this is my eXPerience....
Do they have hangars?

*Sigh*
Dude, if you're gonna give up immediately if everything you do isn't perfect in the first place, you're gonna be seriously screwed over for the rest of your life. Your alien ain't all bad- I've seen worse in major movies. But you're not gonna get something that everyone's gonna like (at least, not without a lot of practice), unless you agree to modify it a little according to what OTHERS wanna see, not just yourself. If you really just wnt to please yourself, and don't give a **** what anyone else thinks, or expect everyone to sit back and agree sycophantically with whatever you do, don't post stuff here. Go show it to, I dunno, your mom or something. If you post here, it's gonna get nitpicked. That's what we do. And if you sort through all the little peccadilloes, and take those ideas you're not totally opposed to, and can work in together properly, you'll end up with a cool-ass alien. Otherwise, your mom can tack it on your refrigerator. Your call.
There's nothing personal in it. You should know that, being a long-time HLPer. Want me to bring up some of the threads where I got not just nitpicked, but utterly TRASHED in? You begin, you're not so hot, you work at it, you get better. Repeat until you can con some poor fool into paying you. Lookit the crap I do now. Look at the crap I used to do. You think I figured out how to do stuff well on my own, with everyone just saying "Oh! Look at that textured sphere! It's perfect! I never thought of THAT!"?

*applauds*
Dude, I remember that, but wasn't it a cube?
Yeah, it had to have been, cause then Setekh did this:

But then again that's not a cube :p (it's a rectangular prism)
-
Hmm... I think I had the cluster of cylinders with a rounded end, and the bastard pen cap I only most recently got to look cool.
Oh, wait, I DID do the cube! I remember arguing over that on about 50 different threads (as I recall, the idea was too revolutionary for anybody to take, I was a visionary, ships in the future wouldn't really have visible details, etc.)! I think I still have the original model on CD somewhere.
Who was it did the "Untextured Sphere of Doom"? Now THAT was cool.:D
