This is an example of a real 3d planet in FS2 since you were evidently interested in adding features like specular to planets in SS.

Planet has 4 layers allowing it to have moving clouds and shadows for those clouds. Has glowmaps and spec maps too.

Looks great!

But I have a little question.
1 layer planet, one layed clouds, one layer shadows of the clouds.
And what is the 4th layer for?

Those are Omniscraper's screenshots, who made the planet to begin with (and on the 7th day he rested :lol: ).  He originally included the planet release as part of his Star Trek Hi-poly ship releases.
