I notice that on the official FS2 nodemap, it looks like "Dubbe" (and many fan-made nodemaps say "Dubbe") but according to Setekh's renderings (//"http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/hosted/array/imgarchive.php?image=51") and this reference (//"http://www.fourmilab.ch/yoursky/catalogues/starname.html"), it's "Dubhe".
I haven't checked (just noticed today here at work) the cutscenes in the game to see what they show the system as, but what is the correct name?

btw, as well as the reference mentioned above, if nobody's seen this site (//"http://www.jtwinc.com/Extrasolar/mainframes.html"), it's a really good reference for star names as well.

Dubhe is correct. If I made a mistake on my node maps...its just that.

Doesn't really matter, apparently Dubhe ("http://www.stellar-database.com/Scripts/search_star.exe?Name=dubhe") doesn't exist either.
I'm still looking though.

Correction, I just found it ("http://www.astro.wisc.edu/~dolan/constellations/hr/4301.html").
I'm slowly finding the rest of the stars in FS. So far, I'm only missing only 10 out of 29. If you're so inclined, look out for the following:
Laramis
Delta Serprentis
Ribos
Beta Cygni
Ikeya
Alphard
Mirfak
Adhara
Episilon Pegasi
Gamma Draconis

Hmm..... from my handy-dandy book of stars.
Mirfak: Alpha Perseus. F5 I, 620ly distant, binary/multiple star.
Adhara: Epsilon Canis Major. B2 II, 490ly distant, binary/multiple star.
Alphard: Alpha Hydra. K3, 85ly distant, binary/multiple star.
Gamma Draconis. K5 III, 100ly distant, binary/multiple star, proper name of Eltanin.
Beta Cyni. K3 II, 390ly distant, binary/multiple star, proper name of Alberio.
Epsilon Pegasi. K2 I, 520ly distant, binary/multiple star, proper name of Enif.
Heh, amusingly enough, there was a station in WC:P (pretty sure) called Enif Station.
Anyhow, I couldn't find the rest, but that just means the name is made up or their magnitude is less than 3.5. (The limit of my list)
Delta Serp is definately a real star, it would have to be, but I couldn't find it in my list.

Yea, I originally though it was Dubbe when I wrote the TFoN ("http://koti.mbnet.fi/jabu") background. But since I've realised it's actually Dubhe. Which sounds a lot better too (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

Hey Shrike, can you e-mail me the following on those stars: Color and luminosity of all stars in system, RA and Declination. I've been compling a central list of all stars in Freespace, and I'd like that information to help fill it out more.
Right now I haven't been able to find the following:
Delta Serprentis
Laramis
Ribos
Ikeya
From what I can tell, Delta Serprentis does not exist. There is an Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Theta Serprentis, but no Delta. Hell, this was the whole reason I started doing this.

Delta Serp? Have a star map? It's about +10', and 15h30m. Found it on mine. However, it's a ~4th magnitude star, so...

It's not labled in mine. And I've searched constillation sites, and they don't ID it. I'll look again, it might be somewhere.
