Which race is it? The Terrans, the Vasudans or the Shivan.
Please note that this debate is not about numbers, but which race builds the best ships.

Who was sent to fight the Shivans?
Who's world was decimated and had it's population obliterated, only to have them come back more powerful than before?
Who's ships look the coolest.
That's right. Vasudans. Case closed.

We really don't know about the Shivans, since they can build ships as large as the Sath in such overwhelming numbers. Overall though I'd have to go with Vasudans for their capital ships, and the Terrans for their fightercraft (anyone going to argue with an Erinyes?). Most shivan ships have some glaring weakness, like the lack of anti-capital firepower anywhere but directly forward on the Sath. The Hatshepsut doesn't seem to suffer from that at all, and has a stronger hull than the Hecate and Ravana to boot.

Shivans seem to have their ships designed so their swarm tactics work better. Fast and powerfully armed with everything concentrated on the forward flank.

I'd argue with the Erinyes, but only to support the Ares.
The Vasudan theory on small craft seems to be small and fast (i.e. Anubis, seth, Bakha, Sekhmet) But the larger ships seem to have more armour.
Terran Small Craft seem to be heavier (Loki, Ursa, Boanagres(sp?)) and Lighter Capships with higher firepower.

The erinyes always struck me as a very Vasudanized terran ship. Like the Ares. Or Myrmadon.

The Vasudans collect headz. They put them in boxes, and the one in the video doesn't quite know what do do with it, so he uses it as a decoration.

Vasudans definitely build the best ships. They're fast, manueverable, and most importantly, aesthetically pleasing, just look at the Hatshepsut compared to the Hecate or the Sobek to the Deimos. :p
You can pretty much guess who I voted for. The Shivans have some pretty mean ships, but I have to go with our fish wuving allies. Besides, I think they're pretty pissed their planet was destoyed.

Terrans only have alpha 1, because it's from a Terran POV. If the Vasudans were as lame as you say, the Terrans would have eliminated them in the V-T war. But no, The terrans launched Operation Threshar, and lost more pilots than I care to mention. And gained no ground.

That's because Terran command is retarded, not because of some kind of design flaw. The only time you ever see an Aeolus in anything resembling an anti-fighter role is when the three of them are defending the Bastion from overwhelming numbers of Shivan bombers. The rest of the time, they were either destroyed by ambush or used in an anti-capital role, where cruisers in general suck. I need not remind you how many Mentu-class cruisers we see that weren't summarily destroyed.

Eh, I'm just reiterating the nature of good terran ships; they tend to excel in the smaller things, like fighters, and get progressively worse as the ship gets larger. The break-even point for the Vasudans is the Corvette, above which they dominate. For Terrans, it just goes downhill from the Deimos; Hecate, and the mother of all suckage, the Colossus.

Oh the Aeolus was a very effective ship. It was excellent as an escort vessel.

And Alpha 1 Regularly wipes out as many fighters as were lost in Thresher per 1/4 of a Campaign. :p

One? Hmm. There was the 'capturing the Taranis' which led to Tombaugh being decimated. There was the 'let's go into the nebula' which enticed the shivans to nuke Capella. (Bosch is Terran, after all)

The Aeolus is the best terran/vasudan cruiser. It has 3 SGreens, a bunch of flak and AAAF beams in place of a bunch of crappy laser cannons. In fact, it has only one terran huge laser.
The third demo mission has an Aeolus against a rakshasa and a moloch. The capships fire at the aeolus until you get to the mission site, and the rakshasa dies right when you start the mission. The Aeolus dies when the Moloch is at ~80%, but that is not bad for a cruiser fighting a cruiser and a corvette and killing the cruiser. Remember, the Aeolus is being hit by four SReds, and is only firing two of its SGreens.

You MIGHT have a point...if the Terrans had been planning to lure the Lucifer. But no, the Plan was to Capture the Taranis. And it succeeded. What resulted from it is irrelevant, as the Plan itself was a success.

The Vasudans seem superior to the Terrans. I'm sure the whole species is sick of hearing 'except for the Aten', so I won't bring it up. :)
They recovered from the Great War faster, didn't disintegrate even after their homeworld was destroyed, and appeared to be the dominant partner in the GTVA immediately post-GW. The Terrans inherited their design asthetic, and I wouldn't be surprised if they adopted other cultural aspects as well.
Interesting idea for a post-Capella campaign, actually. Given the trends in between FS1 and FS2, if the Terrans don't reenter Sol in a few decades, they will become more and more Vasudan-like. Now there's an excuse for GTVA-EA conflict.

Who made the Aten during the Great War? And then on top of that, kept using it through the second?
and on top of THAT, built an almost same-level useless cruiser on that?
Now which race made the Fenris...and then muscled it to the Leviathan, and then created the holy terror of most fighter pilots, the Aeolus? Now, compare the losses of Aeoli to that of Fenris and Leviathan cruisers. I'd say that more of the latter were lost, in ratio, than the former. Also remember, a significant number would have been lost To the NTF! NOT to the shivans, so you really can't claim the 20/24 loss thing, since I bet a significant number actually betrayed the GTVA...
Besides, the Vasudans are evil!! Why else did Bosch create the NTF? He obviously found out some big secret they were hiding and decided to kill em off while we still had a chance!

I think the whole arguement wheter the humans or vasudans are superior is moot.
The whole fact that has to be showed down our throats (of both species) that from the very moment we made contact our fates had intervened and we were no longer distinguishable people since the actions of one specie irrevocably brought a change in the other as well.

Agreed, this whole Terran vs. Vasudan debate is bull****.
During the Great War, the Vasudan scientists discovered the Ancient records which allowed the GTD Bastion and it's strike force to track down the Lucifer in subspace. Terrans on the other hand developed the GTB Ursa and the GTW-N1 Harbringer which made it possible to destroy the Lucifer in the first place. The GTM-9 Interceptor missile combined Terran and Vasudan technologies. The GTW-15 Avenger was developed by the Terrans.
The whole point of FS1 was old enemies uniting to beat the Shivans. It saddens me truly that both the NTF and the HoL seem to have so many followers these days. Were it not for the combined efforts of Terrans and Vasudans in FS1, there wouldn't even BE any GTVA existing in 2365, let alone neither species.

The Terrans are still clearly Terran and the Vasudans are still clearly Vasudan, however their cultures are slowly blending. It's only natural for that to happen. Neither is superior, because someone would've won the T-V War then, which lasted for 14 years. If not for the Shivans, they'd still be at each other's throats, because they were both too stupid to realize how similar they actually are. Hmm, sounds like Earth, except we're all the same frickin' species!
At least this is a more civilized argument as opposed to the thread on abortion.
