I'm getting my debug spew filled with

Code: [Select]
OpenGL Error: lasku ei kelpaa
!!DEBUG!! OpenGL Errors this frame: 1
'lasku ei kelpaa' is Finnish for the same as 'invalid enumerant'

20070715-d build doesnt show this issue, in 20070716-d and thereafter it appears.

Dunno how serious it is though. It appears also on 3.6.9 trees light_test-debug build.

Just to let you know RD, I just tried the 20060321-p4 build, testing for that LOD bug I've got.

It's there.  That's the earliest build I have apart from the bugless 03-06 build.

It doesn't. :)

I have only had time to get all of my fixes into the 3.6.9 branch so far.  I won't do the main CVS branch (where these builds come from) until later today.

Has this problem been fixed? It was a build problem that prevents me from moving on to the next mission in the Revenge campaign training missions 1 and 3?

No idea. I never recieved any feedback on the subject.

I certainly haven't touched the bug I was talking about but then I don't think it was causing this problem in the first place.

Excellent, thanks redmenace.

I've been meaning to ask... what's the difference between the CVS builds that you make and taylors rc7dot7, ectdot8, etc.. builds?  Obviously, I can see that you make optimized and inferno builds.  But besides that, are the builds based on the exact same code, with perhaps slightly different build dates?  Thanks...

No the builds in this thread are based on cutting edge code. taylor's builds, for the most part are from a seperate branch of code meant to be 3.6.9

Welcome to HLP! Exits are to the right and left. In the event of a landing of any kind, you can and will be used as a flotation device. Flamethrowers are conviniently located under your seats, however, due to the recent funding cuts, a $3.5 million donation is required to obtain a flamethrower with a full load of napalm in it. If you do not wish to make a donation, your flamethrower will remain filled with water. If you don't wish to donate and still want a working weapon, you'd have to try the weapons locker. However, only HLP Admins, a :v: God, or a Hyperintelligent shade of Blue can open the lock, so you'd have to break in. If you find yourself inside a ventilation shaft and you catch a glimpse of a Shivan, you don't need to worry... much. It's just Carl, and you have two choices with how you want to deal with him:
    1. The first possible course of action is getting one of the weapons from the afore-mentioned weapons locker, and trying to ward off Carl by threatening him with the weapon. Be advised that many of the weapons in the weapons locker are covered with the blood of people who thought it a good idea to break into the weapons locker and use the procured weapon to ward off Carl. So, please, if you decide you want to choose this course of action, choose one of the already-bloody weapons, so you don't get blood all over one of the clean ones.
   2. Your second course of action when you see Carl is to throw your lunch to him and hope he isn't hungry. This is the better option.
As a final note, please remember that any attempt to use the ASCII characters 0046h, 0053h, and 0033h in sequential order will result in you being trampled by Freespace Fanboys. Your trampled remains will be fed to Carl so that the rest of us don't have to carry around so much food for lunch.

P4 builds are not compatible with Athlon builds ?

the P4 just means it's optimized for a processor newer than a P3. It should work fine with Athlon.

For the new guys using these builds. Perhaps someone should warn you that unlike the 3.6.9 RC builds these builds are really here for campaign makers and bleeding edge early adopters and aren't really meant to be the starting point for people new to the SCP.

The 3.6.9 branch is much more stable and has much better support than this one since right now we're trying to fix as many bugs as we can in it. That doesn't mean you can't use these builds. Just that you shouldn't be assuming that cause this thread gets updated with new builds several times a week that it's the best place to get builds from. :)

P4 builds are not compatible with Athlon builds ?
can you post build commandline with the builds please ?
can you post Athlon build as well ?

The Athlon can run P4 optimised builds. You don't need a seperate for it. Basically it's optimised for both CPUs when compared against P3 machines etc.

This problem has already been reported with respect to the maxim. No idea what is causing it though as it doesn't affect the 3.6.9 branch.

Missile explosions are gone, flak explosions are gone, most of the flak particles seem to be gone, muzzleflashes are gone, massive slowdowns seen in for example Kings Gambit using just retail vp files.

In my tests the problem seems to be present in builds after the 20060902 - that is the 20060904 is the first one that has this issue. And in my case slowdowns seem to be related to beam weapon firing cycles or rather the start of it.. Probably the particle effect that appears on beam firings

It's this (http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/bug_view_advanced_page.php?bug_id=0001101) same thing.  Almost nothing in the particle system works properly after that commit by WMC, and whatever he was trying to do there was wrong anyway.

Nope, nag WMCoolmon about it.  I'm not fixing bugs that have been introduced only in the unstable branch, so this fix is up to the person that broke it in the first place. :)

Was it also broken in the rc7dot8 build?  The code hasn't changed since before then, so if it worked properly in that build then the bug shouldn't have returned and it may just be a build specific thing.

Sorry, I've been incredibly busy over the last week. That build has no issues. The 7.9 build you posted in the FSU upgrade forum seems to interpret the brightness and ambient factor settings differently than the older ones did (the same brightness settings look far brighter and washed out in it) but doesn't have this problem either.

By the way, is that 7.9 build based on the 3.6.9 branch? It seems to have a serious bug with AI behavior that isn't an issue with this 7.8 build or the original RC7. I'm finding that the AI fighters are usually sitting still and doing nothing when being spawned inside fighterbays and are also often randomly forgetting their orders.

The RC7.9 AI bug is quite serious. I mantised it in 1133 (http://scp.indiegames.us/mantis/view.php?id=1133). Please, add the info you find about it in this one.

Note, for anyone using these builds, there is a change to subsystem flags.  What used to be:

+subsystem-flag-A
+subsystem-flag-B

...has now become:

$flags:  ( "subsystem-flag-A" "subsystem-flag-B")

... so its more like how ship and weapon flags are dealt with, and takes up less vertical space in subsystem entries.  Doesn't apply to pre-existing subsystem flags such as AWACS and engine wash entries though.

Not sure if WMC has commited that one line fix yet.

I got massive slowdowns when swarm missiles like the hornet get fired....:S
Playing fs1port without adveffects

I noticed that one too, though I was just beginning the main campaign.  I think it may have something to do with the particles in the engine trail... just a guess.

Update:

Redmenace, I've just tried out the new builds you uploaded (but haven't posted yet), and its giving me a tonne of pointless erros in debug mode... which gave no such errors in the previous CVS build.  I get a load of:

Warning: Boolean '' type unknown; assuming 'no/false'
File:c:\fs2_open\code\parse\parselo.cpp
Line: 2226
[This filename points to the location of a file on the computer that built this executable]

followed by:

Error: weapons.tbl(line 2845:
Error: Required token = [#End] or [$Name:], found [+Type:                        HEAT                                       ]
in weapon: @Rockeye.

File:c:\fs2_open\code\parse\parselo.cpp
Line: 668
[This filename points to the location of a file on the computer that built this executable]

with all MVPs but adveffects installed with the 710 patches.  Under FS Port, I get:

Error: weapons.tbl(line 1190:
Error: Required token = [#End] or [$Name:], found [+Type:            HEAT               ]
in weapon: @MX-50.

File:c:\fs2_open\code\parse\parselo.cpp
Line: 668
[This filename points to the location of a file on the computer that built this executable]

Since these are the first missile entries in the tables, it's got to have something to do with it expecting the end of the missile entry early.  Release builds from this CVS give the missile error messages as well.

The creation dates for these builds is identical to the ones I experienced these error messages on.  I'd advise against using them.

The inferno build you're after wouldn't help you in the slightest. The 16 textures thing came in when FS2_Open moved to HTL. That means you need FS2_Open 3.5.5 or something around that age to work.

Last commit to the main branch was the 8th. I have not posted those yet. Even so, it is only a fred 2 update in management.cpp

There are several big problems with the current code, so it will probably be a little while before you see new HEAD builds.
