Heres a question I've always wanted to see, Which do you like and why?
Me? Hard to decide but I like the Sobek, the shape, texture, and the way the front beams are put in.

In terms of looks, the Sobek wins. It looks nifty.
In terms of combat ability, the Deimos, no question. They have about the same number of turrets, but the Sobek has fewer beams, and no Piranha's.

Sobek. Because it looks cool and it always manages to repel enemy fighters, making life easier for me (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Out of the two it has to be the Deimos (although I prefer the Shivan Moloch to them both).

I like them both. But I prefer the Sobek, because the Deimos, as several Terran ships, has something strange in it's appearance.

Well i've altered the moloch so it has a couple of SAAA and about 5 or 6 Sreds took me a while cos i found out that the turret info in the pof editor of modelview is different to the TBls as in the position of turrets. but i choose the Deimos.

I like the way the Sobek looks.
But overall i like the Deimos. Has better ability to destroy ships.

Deimos, because its slash beams are definitely not worthless. as for the Sobek, a flying fish? gimme a break; and besides, it has a far weaker hull. The Moloch, while it has good armor and mass, it has almost no beam weaponry. hence i find that the Deimos is best.

Overall I like the Sobek better; it looks cooler IMHO and the VSlash beams are better than TerSlash ones. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
gimme a break; and besides, it has a far weaker hull.
Actually all three corvettes have the same amount of armor. (80000 HP)

I like the Deimos better, but it gets wasted 1 on 1 vs. a LILITH cruiser.(The LRed takes down about 30-40 % Hull each shot, and it reloads quite fast.)

I prefer the Deimos. Just gotta love the layout.
Unfortunately the weapon layouts aren't compatable with the AI's fighting tactics.
It has Four Terslash beams against the vasudan's two Vslash.
AI's for capships just kinda walk up then start circling each other. As if they were in orbit.
The deimos has two of it's slash weapons up front, which is only good on that front, after that there's only one that can be used against the enemy.
But, with a little tweak, make the huge turrets on top and bottom into slashers. This way if a ship is to one side or the other the guns will swivel around and all can be brought to bear on any ship.
However, after looking the stats for the lillith over, I don't classify it as a cruiser. It's officially a PAIN IN THE 4SS.

That's 15,000 more than the Mentu, and the poor aeolus is next with it's 38k...
Thank god it doesn't have any flak or more than one AAA.
Aside from the above re-classification, the word I was looking for wasa light corvette.
Lotsa hull, few weapons. I say give it a bump up in speed to around 35 with a max overclock of 50.

MMMMHHH. That's a tough one. Really. I'd say Deimos. If its friendly. If its hostile and insane, then you should probably look for the respawn button.

I guess I gotta put in my 2 cents too.
The Deimos is better for enemies corvette size and above, while the Sobek is best against cruisers and fighter/bomber wings. The Deimos can move into position and use its two front beams while the Sobek has, what, 5 AAA beams? BTW: Deimos=latin for Panic. Sobek was an Egyptian crocodile-headed god of war.

We have to remember that Sobek has much better arc of fire on it's main beams. The two beams can shoot almost on any direction, except below and behind.

Deimos for me!
I think that the vasudan ships are just plain bad for the most part.
And who doesnt love the TAG A mission with the Deimos? (j/k)
Anyway I think the Deimos is just better, and its fun to kill like in the mission before I think Endgame where all the NTF ships are running the blockade against the Mjolners.

If it's the NTF/ Mjolnir mission, Endgame has to be my favourite FS2 mission (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

how great was it when you got to bomb already weakened NTF ships? Fire about 3 cyclops at the NTD Uhuru and no more Orion! The Mjolnirs help a lot too. The Uhuru warps in and is instantly covered in beams from the RBCs!

I quite like the design of the Sobek, but the Deimos has a more intimidating reputation (and a well deserved one too (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif).
Overall the deimos wins it for me.

I wrote a mission where the player had to fly escort to a pair of deimos' Every once in a while when testing it I`d make the mistake of flying between them.
Pretty short mistake I can tell you!

Only problem with the Deimos is massive blind spots. (OK, NEARLY blind. But it's still too easy to nail the top turrets and blast them from there unhindered.)

The Lilith should be considered a light corvette. That thing is just Amazing. Also, I prefer the Deimos even more because it has 4 TerSlashes compared to the 2 VasSlash of the Sobek.

Sorry, but the GVCv Sobek, is just too... sleek... i like the big bulkiness of a GTCv Demios, here is a pretty sweet thing to do.
i have made a new rebel alliance, called the TFA (Terran Freedom Alliance) and they wack big weapons on ships, so to make the Demios more kickass, replace ONE of it's TerSlashes with a BGreen/SGreen. and enjoy :) :headz: lol, we needed that.
