As I said before, Episode II is not as good as the first one, though there are a few really nice missions imo. But I hope the end doesn't too much like a copy of Derelict. :nervous:

You sure you made everything correct with the installation? StormFront12_root.vp is in your "StormFront12" folder?

Played it a bit now (rather big bit actually), and I have to say, although it's not that good as Episode 1 I still like a quite much. Nice amount of mysteries in it, so I'm looking forward to Episode 3. Fighting is also nice and I really like your backgrounds - actually I'd like to ask if I may use them for some missions myself?

I'm having trouble with the second mission

Spoiler:
When I try the mission where I have to destroy the shivan depot, I always get a mission failure even when  I destroy all the cargo containers and ships

nice campaign.

alltough I got to add a small mini-bug

Spoiler:
the mission where you and the Iceni frigate have to kill of shivan fighters and a corvette, and capture a few disabled ones in the process - the frigates waypoin paths take it away from the Moloch. With time compression it took a small eternity for both ships to come into fireing positions again.

Thanks for all the positive responses. :)

@Ole
Of course you may.

@MarsNeedsWomen
No! Not again! I hate that mission! Will have a look into it later this afternoon.

Edit:
Okay, here are the fixed missions: Click me (http://sebastian.ramrod-network.de/Freespace/Bla1.7z)
I removed the ship-type-destroyed-sexp (I had problems with that earlier). Now everything should work.

Oh, and btw. How do you feel the skill level? I tried to make the missions easier than in Episode I.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Storm Front II - Cthulhu
Post by: Ole on February 03, 2008, 08:24:14 am
Wasn't that bad, although I played on easy or medium, so I can't really judge it. Except for one red-alert mission in which I started with 3% hull left (which led me to replay the previous one) there were no real problems. Some challenging situations, but nothing that couldn't be handled. Actually, although I really like the Ares, I sometimes felt that he's a bit too strong - maybe restrict him more thoroughly?

And by the way, thank you.

To answer your question (I think I can do that without spoiler tags): There will indeed be a third and fourth part, but Ep III will not be about the Shivans.

Oh, and...
Spoiler:
There WILL be more trips into Shivan space, but not the Shivan space we know already. ;)

FS-Junky; can you post me a spoiler about 1) What will chapter 3 deal with and who the enemy is in it
Not yet. I don't know if Ep III  will be released before 2009. My next project which will likely be released by mid 2008, is a prequel. After that I intent to make a mini campaign playing shortly after Ep II, maybe I can put a few hints in there.

and 2) Will we visit that Shivan system that was shown in that cutscene at the end of part II?
Spoiler:
Nope, only in Ep IV.

Quote
Oh yeah, and 3)
Spoiler:
Why the Shivans were fighting each other in part II?
Spoiler:
You have to exercise patiente, my young padawan. :p

It's nearly impossible to do something completely new or never-seen-before. After ten years of campaign creating it's only natural that we are running out of ideas.

Nice campaign. I am currently in the mission in
Spoiler:
which beginning the cthulhu and ravana jumps. Insteead of the lucifer I get a nice ulysses... and when that mission ends, the fs2 just crashes  :doubt:

But yeah, it is ok, though it has some imba missions ( Pride...) well, they just seemed imba to me so I had to use the 5-fail cheat. Episode 1 was very about skill, Episode 2 seems to be more about the story.

Good job anyway :) The installation ( we know which ) VERY surprised me !

Which Version of SCP do you use? Maybe you should extract the mission file from the VP and edit it in FRED before you try again.

Pride... is indeed quite a difficult mission, although it is still a lot easier than it was in the beginning. But okay, I will have a look at this one again. In what other missions did you have problems?

I use the 3.6.10 unofficial beta. The thing is that all other ships appeared as they should have had.

About the ''Pride...'' -
Spoiler:
Well, the ships seem to travel in random ways ( Cruiser / Frigate ), so the result of shivans attacks are always different. I'd also include ship loadout, because three warships, each in their own separate directions, cant be disarmed fast.

I tested the campaign with the 3.9.10 Beta and had no probs. Odd. Sorry, can't say what the problem is.

Spoiler:
The Lima, the Mirage and the Shivan corvette follow waypoints. The Shivan cruisers just follow the ai-chase-sexp. Harpoons are quite good to disarm ships, especially such like the Moloch which have very poor turret armor.

Ok. And again, before that mission in which you need to
Spoiler:
escort Consti after lucifer with ravana jumps out, i get an error that says something along the lines ''add lucifer into techroom if consti jumps out''. And the error is typed like ''SD lucifer''. Dunno whats that about :(
Title: Re: RELEASE: Storm Front II - Cthulhu
Post by: SF-Junky on February 10, 2008, 07:23:45 am
Spoiler:
I don't know why but your FS doesn't seem to know the SD Lucifer class. The only way to correct this as far as I know is to extract the missions from the VP and to edit it in the editor (In your current mission, there is some sexp that adds the Luci to the techroom. You just have to open it and insert the SD Lucifer again, then it should work). The Cthulhu appears in SF_II_E3M2 (That's the one with the Arachnas), SF_II_E3M3, SF_II_E3M4 and SF_II_E3M5. I'm sorry for the trouble, but I can't explain why this problem appears. :(

Here (http://sebastian.ramrod-network.de/Freespace/SF_II_E3M3-5.7z) are the missions, but I don't know what I could fix. It's all working fine for me, after all. Did you really extract the mission files, opened FRED and then opened them from there or did you just open the .VP and double clicked on the file? The latter's not working. ;-)

Seem's to be everything all right with the mission file...

Extract the mission from the .vp, open it in Fred and make the Cthulhu a Lucifer. I can't say what there is wrong, maybe you made a mistake with the installation?
Title: Re: RELEASE: Storm Front II - Cthulhu
Post by: Jeff Vader on April 18, 2008, 08:11:25 am
Or the usual. You have a vp or a table file somewhere it shouldn't be. A popular choice is to install InfR1 to the root freespace directory, so that it can easily intefere with everything else.

If there's a ship model in a mission that the game can't find from the used table file, it will automatically be replaced with a Ulysses. This is what leads me ti believe that you've installed something or another the wrong way.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Storm Front II - Cthulhu
Post by: lobisomem on April 18, 2008, 10:06:59 pm
ok...
I´m not sure if i installed infr1 in the root, but i believe not because i sually create separate folders for eachm campaing, but i will verify it. Anyway, i willl stract everything from the vp anyway... it worked before in the flame sof war, may solve it now.
Thanks.

I have made the vp extract without success. I checked the mission in fred and it appears as lucifer... however, i still not being able to solve the problem...
Title: Re: RELEASE: Storm Front II - Cthulhu
Post by: Jeff Vader on April 19, 2008, 02:57:14 am
I still say that you have a vp or a ships.tbl somewhere that has a higher priority than the Storm Front one. Most likely some non-retail file in the \freespace\ folder. Or something extra in your Storm Front folder. If you are absolutely sure that there aren't any rogue files floating around anywhere and you still have the issue, I can really only say wtf.

Hey. I'm really pleased to see that you like the campaign.

As for SF3: It will come. For sure. But not this year. Expect it somewhere around February/March 2009. This summer you will see an add-on for SF12 and the prequel which is  currently in "post production".

Hello SF-Junky,
i played again the Stormfront Campaigns and enjoyed it again.
Wonderful Missions and cool Battles.
Perfect balanced Missions.

I Played with official 3.6.10 Files and no problems.

Now my Question: when do you release Stormfront part III ???
Is any release planned?? Or you are too busy with the release II of SF12 ?

Keep up your good work !!!
