hello,
first post so hello to everyone:) been playing FS2 for a long time, i usually run through it at least once a year.
so i loaded it up on my newer computer (havnt tried with this hardware yet) and found that it runs with a pretty low framerate which is odd considering the age of it. i find that it runs ok until you're looking at a lot of models or weapon fire. if that happens well it turns into an utter slide show. i mean unbearable and unplayable. look away and its fine!
what gets me is this hardware should destroy it performance wise.
opteron 165 dual core
2x 7900 gto 512mb in sli
2gb ddr500 ram
sound blaster x-fi
asus a8n32-sli
and some other **** :p
i'm also running on xp with sp2
i've got updated drivers and i've tried using compatibility modes - for some reason it wont even start with them on! i've tried disabling SLI and other video options like AA with no luck. i've also set the processor affinity so that FS2 runs only on one core. again no success. i'm kind of stuck here....anyone? thanks!

What version of FS2 are you running?
-
i'm running the original version with the patch. i used to have the GOTY edition, but i lost it. think my old roommate stole it. bastard:p
but yeah patched original.

Call up the task manager, and set the processor affinity for the FS2.exe process to CPU 0.

Could try FS2_Open.
Not 'could', dear FUBAR. 'Should'.
