Title: 3.6.10. and displaying nebula backgrounds
Post by: TopAce on September 05, 2008, 10:51:33 am
No build newer than the official 3.6.9. is able to display nebula backgrounds. Planets aren't a problem; they are always where they're supposed to be.

I figured out that even if I run without the newest mediavps, the problem persists. I have had this problem before, which I could solve by changing from OpenGL to Direct3D (or the other way around, don't remember which). This time neither OpenGL nor D3D is good enough. It is possible, however, that 3.6.10. cannot change to D3D, because even if I set D3D in the launcher, the lower-left corner of the Main Hall will say "OpenGL."

I'm using Lightspeed's hi-res versions of Retail nebulae. I haven't tried any other nebulae.

Has anyone encountered this before, and figured out a solution to it?

If you have the AdvEffects, you have no need for separate LS Nebulae.

If you don't have AdvEffects, it is advisable to have the LS Nebulae separately.

The version I uploaded to FSMods (the smaller one, with the pimped out FS2 missions) works on my end.

3.6.10 builds select OpenGL regardless of what you tinker around in the Launcher.

Update your graphics drivers?

...3.6.10 builds select OpenGL regardless of what you tinker around in the Launcher...

Then that's the problem. If it were about the vps, not even 3.6.9. would work properly.

I'll try the graphics driver update, but I don't think that would help.

That makes one of us.
