DVD Release Notes:

The Babylon Project DVD is in an ISO format. The ISO Format is a Disc Image containing the data to be written to disc.

Nearly all CD/DVD Burning software support burning the ISO format to disc. It is a common format.

However if you are confused on how to burn an ISO to disc,
I suggest using the "BurnAware Free" (freeware, contains no crap-ware) available at
http://www.burnaware.com/burnaware_free.html

Alternately, you can also mount the ISO in a virtual drive.
You can download a Virtual Drive Program called "Virtual CloneDrive"
(freeware, contains no crap-ware) available at
http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html

Finally, if you would prefer to extract the data from the ISO to a folder your hard drive,
you can use ISOBuster (shareware, unlimited demo) available at
http://www.isobuster.com/

--------------------------------------------------------

For Questions and/or Comments regarding The Babylon Project DVD, please go to this thread:

 http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,56247.0.html

If you are posting mirror links for download, please post here :)

KNOWN ISSUE #1: On the ReadMe Menu, If  you click the Print Button,
it will launcher the installer instead of printing the ReadMe.

There are 2 ways to work around this:
1 - Simply click the Browser Button and print the readme from your browser.
2 - Browse the root of the DVD and open the readme.txt file and print from notepad.

KNOWN ISSUE #2: In the DVD ReadMe infomation refers to Campaign Pack v1.1
THIS IS INCORRECT!
The actual Version Number for the Campaign Pack included on the DVD is v2.0

Wait, wait. I spent over an hour downloading the file at the "Full DVD Download Link", and when I unzip it, I get a damaged readme and a disc image? Why do I need to burn this to a DVD to install it, and where are the install files?

EDIT: D'oh. This is what I get for not reading the entire post. The readme file *is* damaged, though.

You don't need to burn it. Just use your preferred Archiver to extract all the files from the ISO, and execute the Installer. Or use Daemon Tools et al to mount that Image.

Is it up to date?
I downloaded it installed and #^$@#^%@*$%@$  after couple of hours spent on doing a lot of strange settings in the launcher and reading this forum...
why this game is so buggy :/
neither d3d or opengl works for me -> comp hangs or game just quits and everytime i have some fragments of textures floating in space( lol wtf?) .
Forced software rendering works only (not bad thx to coreduo cpu), but no primary weapon beams (its invisible) buggy model of ship Rising Star in one of the missions prevents to accomplish the goal - there was a thread about but solution has beed removed (deleted attachment)
Launcher has a lot of options but it seems like half of it doesnt work at all and debug exe is producing errors like 'too many ship clases' or something.
Comon people...game looks very nice but....bugs everywhere
My drivers are fine, a lot of d3d or opengl games works on it - except this one.
I was wondering maybe i should paste some logs etc ...but later maybe :( i'm confused and tired

If you have run a debug build, please post the fs2_open.log from the data folder here.
You should also get Zathras (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=64799.0), which includes updated executables and a ton of bugfixes.

Hi
I've installed zathras, there is some change, Rising Star problem seems to be fixed i did notice also fps drop.
Thats how my hud looks like:

In software mode seems to be ok except lack of visible weapon shots and fps drops sometimes below 5.
But still a lot of warnings in debug mode.

fs2_open.log attached and debug messages from the clipboard

Thanks for any advice

That is most likely your problem right there.  Unless you can find newer drivers for that video card you are most likely out of luck.  OpenGL 1.4 is bare minimum for FS2_Open and Direct3D isn't supported anymore.

Also not that it matters in this case but you didn't actually enable Zathras in the launcher.  Really doubt that will help though but you never know.

I did enable zathras in the launcher too, after this screenshot has been made, no changes.
To be honest I was afraid you could refer to my graphic card.
Well ... no chance to get another driver, theres only few versions, and the only 1 i guess which works good enought to play games.
Q3A, ET, CS ,JK  and few other ogl games working just fine but like you said... I'm most likely out of luck in this case.

I have a question how can you add missions with FRED (.vp files) to the DVD version?
Title: Re: RELEASE: The Babylon Project DVD v1.0
Post by: The E on November 05, 2009, 01:41:17 pm
New single missions (file extension: .fs2) need to be in <TBP directory>\data\missions.

New vp files can usually be placed directly into the TBP directory.

hi since i instalklled the DVD there is a Data file but i cant insert any data into it because its a Cabinet file(dont know if i used the right word)Its a fs2 file and not vp sry so i need to insert it into the data but thats not possible
Title: Re: RELEASE: The Babylon Project DVD v1.0
Post by: The E on November 07, 2009, 10:19:16 am
Ah, so you want to insert it directly into the DVD install files? That is more complicated. Also, why would you want to do that?
Title: Re: RELEASE: The Babylon Project DVD v1.0
Post by: ttw2 on November 09, 2009, 08:35:36 am
I only want that the mission which i did with FRED works
Title: Re: RELEASE: The Babylon Project DVD v1.0
Post by: The E on November 09, 2009, 08:44:29 am
Then you don't have to put it on the DVD. Just put it into <Directory where TBP is installed>\data\missions

Hi folks,

I only found out recently about the new dvd release, and I wanted to pass on a big THANK YOU for all the all work that's gone into this project to provide the b5 community with some fresh material, great stuff guys!

I have an issue with my gamepad (usb) though, it's not recognized by fs2 scp it seems. Mouse & keyboard work fine. I've read the FAQ and unplugged all other gaming inputs (logitech g25, Cougar HOTAS), but still no luck with using the gamepad within fs2 / TBP. I also tried the force 0 / force 1 options, also with no effect.

I'd be most grateful for any input on this problem. System is win xp sp3 (though I use Linux usually), 4g ram, speedlink strike gamepad (pink version which I "borrowed" from my daughter ;-)

Cheers & thanks again for keeping the project alive,

Uwe

If you have a HOTAS stick, why would you want to play on a gamepad? Especially a pink one! :p

More seriously though, IIRC XP has an option in the Game Controllers Control Panel to set a particular device as the Legacy option. I've seen that solve issues in the past.

Installed TBP & now Zathras and have it all working, BUT..

I know I'm probably just missing it, but is there a readme or something that recommends initial settings for the launcher - there are so many possible combinations that a veterans "these are my settings" would be a real help.

And, I have to put in a big complaint about false and misleading information. I was really looking forward to watching the trailer for the 'Earth Minibar War Campaign', and there isn't a flung bottle in sight!

I even viewed 'How the War started' and there is not a hotel anywhere to be seen! What is this?  :hopping: I felt sure we would be treated to the sight of Doc Franklin or Garribaldi being hit on the head by a discarded bottle while walking in the street below a hotel balcony on the Drazi homeworld as a delegation of Minbari toss the contents of the 'fridge (offended that someone, knowing their violent aversion to all things alcoholic, had nevertheless elected to stock their quarters exclusively with Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters, and knowing it to be a drink then popular among Earthers, didn't mind too much that bottles connected with a couple of said species. Of course, our heroes, not being known for their phlegmatic disposition, bust up the place, breaking in the process the only other Triluminary in existence, thus simultaneously giving mortal offence AND preventing the Minbari from discovering the true nature of the obnoxious visitors. Now THAT'S how to start a war!)

At least, that's what the promo title led me to expect. Just goes to show, you don't always get what you want. Caveat emptor, indeed!

I feel the HOTAS Cougar (solid metal that it is) is not as well suited for quick movements which would be unrealistic in a real jet anyway, and I don't want to wear out the gimbals if I can avoid it, so for a free-ranging space shooter / sim I'd much prefer a gamepad / keyboard setup.

I'll try the legacy option that you mentioned, thanks!
