Okay PC owners. I`ve mentioned this fact a couple of times before so you should be able to figure it out.
What's wrong with this website?

that, maybe?
PPC processor or 68060
Graphics card
3D accelerators supported through Warp3D
Soundcards optionally supported through AHI
64 MB RAM (minimum of 48 MB RAM free)
8x CD ROM
if FS1 runs on a 68060, I have a Cray :p

Unpredecented control over wingmen with high AI
ROTFLMAO. Yeah, High AI my ass. Some of the debris is more deadly that the wingmen.

Isn't a 68060 a Motorola processor used on Macs? (I have an old 68040-based mac and a 68000-based TI-92+ calculator :D)

LOL, that's so true; I have spent countless hours trying to get the AI wingmen to perform very simple tasks in my missions...:p

Actually the Mac stopped at the 68040 and went from there to PowerPC.
You`re on the right track though ;)

Read the website. Its a port of the original Freespace to, of all things, an Amiga (hence why its an the first and not the second. No 3d accellerators for Amigas, so far as I know).

Hyperon Entertainment...?
Interesting Box too..

Give that man the prize! :) Yep got it in one. I`d mentioned the amiga port a few times before but I recently found out it had been finished but no one had heard of it :)
As for Amiga's not having 3D cards that's not strictly true. The Amiga has a built in 2D chips but third party companies have come up with work-arounds so that you can use 3D cards.
Apparently if sales of the Amiga version are good enough Hyperion will also port FS2 as well. Hyperion also do linux and mac ports so they might port to those platforms too.

Freespace2 for Linux or BSD (my preference) would rock. At that point, I'd not need to dual boot anymore. :D

You could try asking them. Hyperion are quite nice guys but I think they are a bit busy at the moment.
I do remember them saying once that the hard part of porting a game was getting it to work on the Amiga. From there it was easy to port the Amiga version to Linux cause AmigaOS is much more similar to unix than Windows is. So a linux port of FS1 shouldn`t be too hard.
The problem with their ports is they need to know they will sell cause they have to pay interplay for the license up front (and they have to pay again for each OS).
The Amiga community is pretty loyal (They'll even prepay for a game that won`t be out for 3 or 4 months) so they felt safe porting to that platform. I`m not certain but I doubt they'd feel as safe with a Linux port.
