...DL'ed the demo off XBL yesterday
...planes feel nicer than ace combat 6
...really lame name, though (seriously, are ALL the good flight-game-names taken)
...I like the assistance off mode for the planes...except for the stupid-as-deceased-monkey-sh()t camera, i mean, i just want to STAY IN THE COCKPIT :hopping:
... I thought this was 'tom Clancy' and would have some semblance of plausibility to it...like the little HUD hoops to help in getting good solutions on city ground targets... but i am not a fan of them in a dogfight, they take away some sense of freedom/challenge
...why can't they render ALL THE BUILDINGS IN A CITY, i mean, on a PS2, this is excusable, but now...
...primice is a little far fetched, but works a shave beater than all the fictitious, aircraft-sharing nation in AC series
but that is just me.

so bad? it already looked too arcade for me but I thought I should play the demo (on PS3, and those idiots delayed it for technical reasons now, sounds like another bad Ubisoft port to me) first.

I played the demo on 360 and was disappointed. It didn't even live up to Ace Combat 6's standards.

I wondered if that might happen. Its the same team that did Blazing Angels...and while that was pretty good...after playing AC6 I can see that it wasn't the pinnacle of flying combat games.

full game is out, thoughts?

Waste of time IMO. I want a FLIGHT-SIM
Not a F*CKING ARCADE GAME! I GOT TO THE SHOPPING CENTRE AND PAY $2 A POP FOR THOSE! Not frakking $100 like it is here!
I looked at it and thought it would be *mildly* realistic in relation to AC6, I was mistaken.

far too arcade.

I tried the PC demo out but it didn't grab me (unsurprisingly), that assistance camera mode is not much help and you spend half your time flying in circles trying to get a lock. Sorry but it's just too arcadey for my liking when it comes to flight-sims.

*cough* Free Falcon 5 beta is available (for free) *cough*

tbh, i was kind of looking for something more arcadey. tried the demo. didnt take i'm afraid. and that camera angle for assisted flight... :ick:

Guess I won't be buying this...
I'm still waiting for a new Tom Clancy game that I can actually enjoy. =/
-
I may look at Free Falcon 5... and out of mild curiousity I am downloading the HAWX demo.
-
I actually like the game. I know it's lightweight, but I quickly lose patience with the hyper-realistic flight sims.
And the mission where you defend Rio is an excellent furball.

I dislike it. Yeah, it's modern and all that, but who wants to circle 2000 feet from an Ace all the time? That's not how dogfights really go. The lack of throttle control annoys me, as does the lack of camera control. It's screwed up to put it simply. I'll see about Falcon though--it may be better, but I want to fly an F-14.

Tried the demo tonight after putting it off for a while. In a word: disappointing. Its obviously inspired by Ace Combat but it fails to live up to the challenge. The jets seem to fly around as if they have no weight changing direction instantly with no inertia. The missiles aren't visually satisfying in animation or graphics. The graphics for the terrain are good and theres lots of fancy things like bloom and whatnot but the jets themselves look rather flat and the afterburners are very average looking too.
I do aplaud them for trying something new with the external assist off mode but its not really satisfying to play from that perspective. Also the assist on mode with the HUD trails telling you where you should fly to attack target X works nicely when you're getting accustomed to the interface.
But the rest...the core of what it should be...isn't there. I liked Blazing Angels 1 and 2 much better than this (same team). Ace Combat 6 has it beat big time.
