Title: does GOG.......;
Post by: captain-custard on June 09, 2009, 05:26:03 am
i see a lot of ppl new to FS having very basic problems when running the game ( not really SCP related)

once they have upgraded to FSopen etc they have a few more but a lot of theses are very simply not knowing the basics of the game play so i was wondering does GOG ship the game manual with the download ?

these problems include changing the campaign and other basic setup , although the manual is outdated it has some great information in it...

So if it does ship it maybe we can recommend ppl read it , or can we make it availible for download.......

According to the FS2 page on GOG, the manual is available as a free download after the game is purchased.

Yeah, GOG doesn't ship ANYTHING as far as I know.  It is a 100%-download business.  But if people want I'm sure we could find a place on the Wiki or something to put a manual download.  Or try www.replacementdocs.com (http://www.replacementdocs.com)
They have almost every game manual that is legal up on that site.

andicirk did say "does GOG ship the game manual with the download", meaning that do people get the manual at the same time when they download FS2. And apparently they don't, it must be downloaded separately.

Quite sad, from a tech support point of view.

Not sad when they presumably have it listed on the same download page as the game itself, though I suppose there's no counting for stupidity. :p

GOG really should include the game manual in the download . . . it helps solve problems before people start complaining on the GOG forums.
Checked that the replacementdoc FreeSpace2 manual link still exists.

ok sorry for any confusion created by my bad English grammar, no excuses really as its my native language....

would it be bad if we linked it for download , there is a copy that downloads with TBP ican upload it and then we can link it or would that be breaking the rules........;

or can someone contact gog and explain nicely that it would be amazing for them to add that in .......

ive decided to upload a pdf of the manual and the basic keyboard layout , if you want to link it in the wiki or anywhere else or just download it its here

http://andicirk.org/stuff/fs2_english/ (http://andicirk.org/stuff/fs2_english/)

if ive been bad then delete the link

but if i havent how about linking them into the noob guide and the wiki

I just buyed it some days ago. The manual is available both in "other downloads" and in the main download, once installed. Using Linux, so I don't know if a menu entry to the manual is created, but for sure MANUAL.PDF is in the installation directory.
