I would post a poll, but they're too constraining.
Well? What do you want to see?
My vote goes to surprising and original events and ideas, like escorting ships through an asteroid field, and finding a few asteroids laced with bombs, or loaded with turrets.
Or, if you were flying for the NTF, a raid on a GTVA station where you are forced to shoot down escape pods or be destroyed by your wingmen. That's going to affect the player in a large way, maybe giving him the option to defect?
These are just off the top of my head..
So, give me your ideas so I can steal them :p
Oh, and if this post is a little weird, I'm writing it at 1:45 A.M. Thank you.

Shooting down asteroids could be original, but it wasnt overly thrilling to me personally.
-
Asteroids should be used sparingly, methinks. Like subspace. How many times does a big capital ship have to fly through an asteroid field? :doubt:
-
I think an unexpected twist in the storyline here and there always increases the excitement in a campaign. So yeah, good storyline and new stuff to play around with gets my vote.
-
In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have named the campaign Neo Terra Victorious - if it hadn't been taken, I probably woudl've chosen Return to Neo-Terra or something less auspicious as revealing the main part of the plot. Ah well.
-
Hows about being sent to take down a GTVA squad and ending up having Snipes killing all your wingmen and asking you to go AWOL and help him uncover and defeat some nefarious scheme? And have some back story like you flew with him for 12 years before defecting.
-
Well, I don't want to reveal too much, but in the first mission through most of the first act, Snipes is your squadron leader. After a bit, he reveals his evil side..
By which I mean, a certain lack of..hmm..caring for the enemies of the GTVA. He'll use you then throw you away..

what you want in a campaign, eh?
- - escorting a capital ship(s) through asteroid field, protecting it from incoming asteroids
- - a capital ship assualt
- - a 'protect a friendly capital ship from enemy bombers' mission
- - escorting a capital ship to a jump node
- - a normal patrol, where something goes wrong (of course)
- - a final confrontation, with at least 2 friendly and 2 enemy capital ships, and numerous bombers, fighters, and cruisers :D
i'm presuming this is just a campaign, not a MOD/campaign? (i haven't mentioned anything about flying new ships, etc. :) lol)

well what if acapital ship has to get a jump node, like in Freespace, and there was even one in Silent Threat.
who's this "Snipes" you are all talking about, did i miss something?

I know that these are the missions that are prerequisite in most campaigns; I want missions that are fun to play :) The distinguishing trait in these is that you blow stuff up. The "See First Comment" ones have all already been done or are in progress, or planned..but I want missions that are original, creative, ya know? Even so, those-type missions will be included (prerequisite).

I'm in the process of making a nice little mini-campaign where you're first few missions are boring as hell and nothing happens so you resign and join a private company.
A nice change would be to have you playing the other guy. IE, you're NOT at the heart of every major event. You could be assigned to protect a Leviathan a few dozen km's from the main battle or come in as a reinforcement unit after uber-1337 Alpha 1 has already taken down a ton of the hostiles. Or even have you flying support for a few missions.
-
That'd be fun
I have a mission where you are bumped down in rankk after failling to do something and are forced to..meh. I'm probably going to scrap it, but even so.

Snipes as in Lt Cmd Christopher Snipes, the SOC pilot who kicked some major ass in the main FS2 campaign.
People other than Stealth:
Did we ever find out if FS2 Snipes was VBB Snipes?
-
Eh, isn't he Rah T'orh or something now? And to answer your question, I guess not..
Heh, I had a cool idea for a campaign once, Capella refugees turned pirates raiding an old storage warehouse and stealing Apollos and Athenas was the first mission. It would've been l33t, with a mini-novella too, since the whole group was supposed to have character.

Hehe - he didn't kick so much ass when he needed rescuing in that EMP nebula.

Well he managed to fend off a whole crap-load of Shivans, evade detection and make sure friendlies could find him.
-
Yeah. I guess so. But he still would have died.
