The GTaT Normandy is an assault transport system for delivering troops to the battlefield. Atmosphere capable, each Normandy isn't a single ship, but a system of components. The three parts of the system are Command, Body, and Drone. The Command component (nose) houses the pilot, navigator, RIO, second pilot, and drone operator. Once in the LZ, the Command component, will separate from the Body component and offer fire support while the Body component is remote piloted from the Command component by the second pilot to the LZ. Before separation, the four drones will launch. These are operated by the drone operator in the Command component. The drones offer real time battlefield intel and recon and this information is sent directly to the drone operator, site commander for ground forces, and the over all commander of the mission. Should a commander desire, a fourth component (APC) may be added. Once on the ground the Armored Personnel Carrier will offer some modicum of protection to the ground forces, who will eventually debark.
Once in the LZ troops may exit via the side doors on foot, or they may be exitting through the rear ramp in APC's, depending on mission parameters. Troops may also exit through the rear ramp via limitted range jet pack, the Body component need not be on the ground for this to happen.
Once separated from the Body Component, the Command component raises shields for added protection. Should the Command component be destroyed at any time, the four drones will self destruct (if they have been launched), and an auto pilot will bring the Body component to the LZ or it will return to the rendezvous point, this decision is left solely to the site commander.

These are the most recent screens, but not the most recent work.

GTaT idea sounds really interesting. Gives awesome mission design opportunities
-
Thanks. Still plugging away at this thing.

Looks quite nice
-
She will be better if You make her taller, and more massive like bombers in FS2. Otherwise, looks cool , pretty details
-
I seem to remember hearing she's kinda supposed to be atmospheric-capable, which would explain the slimmer design.
-
Atmo capable is the reason for the wings. The slim design comes from the stealth aspect. In the FS2 campaign when we are introduced to the Pegasus, there is a line in there about a"razor thin profile". So that's where I started.

The Command Section of the GTaT Normandy Assault Tarnsport System. Only thing left to do is add the turrets, and the model will be done.

Pharaoh first flight...escorted by an Aurora.

Looking good, man. :)
-
Pretty cool. As it's terran fighter now, you may consider a new, more terran name for this.
-
you know the other day at work I was thinking about that, and it occurred to me that the Pharaohs were in fact, human. Still debating it.

Stealth bomber getting textured....

I'm gessing this is WiP? If not, you might consider integrating your blue stripes a bit better. Rigth now, the fact that they don't interact at all with the lower layes, as well as the fact that they're all the exact same shade of blue, makes them look... kind of odd, actually.
But I'm sure you knew that. Looking forward to seeing how it develops.
-
yeah. it is getting textured
-
Just a texturing image. The Mako is getting a paintjob.

I know it's been a while, life got busy. Here are some new images though. This is a heavy assault fighter. I wanted something smooth, yet aggressive looking. I think I got it.

She gets her power from 4 engines:

Has four guns on each side set two per side for each of two gun banks:

And has two internal missile bays as well as hard points under the wings.

I don't know why but it has a pretty Viper feel for me. You might need to add some sharp edges to separate gun mounts from the main shape of the fighter. Very nice work
-
I knew it felt familiar, now that you said Viper i see it. 1978. Gun mounts will be from a different metal for separation.
-
ok Finding time to actually do anything is not easy. But I did find some time to work on the model a bit more. Added some scales up front for a plate armor feel.

Also some ribs going down the sides as well as a lowering of the upper missile launchers, they aren't as tall as they were:
And then some engine work:
and finally, worked on the wings, slimmed them down a bit, I think that it offers a more sleek look.

I'm still not convinced to shape of the glass. It's bulge-like shape ruins the flow of the fighter that is sleek and slender. I have also one suggestion regarding wings.
Improve shape of the wings like this.
That's all. I'm starting to like this more and more
-
I tried the long sweep on the wings, but then opted for the long leading edge from an F/A 18 coupled with a slimmed down version of something akin to the cranked arrow look of the F16XL wings, seen here.

Now that you mention it, maybe a sleeker cockpit is in order on this fighter, I'll see what I can do on both counts.
