Title: Launcher Crash; No Error Message
Post by: JerichoDeath on January 12, 2015, 06:56:40 pm
I'm nearly certain that I've seen this problem before, but I cannot remember if, or how, I managed to get rid of it the last time.

I was feeling the urge to play some Freespace. So, I started my launcher... except that didn't happen.
Whenever I try to start my launcher, nothing will happen beyond it appearing in my Task Manager for a few seconds as a process before it disappears.

I checked the FAQ, but this doesn't seem to be a problem listed anywhere in there. It's a little similar to the one that said "The game crashes on startup, without opening a window". So, I tried the solution there, but that didn't work, and the steps to create the log file start with "open the launcher", which I cannot do.

EDIT:
Currently checking to see if the FSO Installer has anything to do.
Maybe an update will change the situation.

EDIT2:
Okay, quite a bit updated, but the launcher still doesn't open.

What OS?

8 and 8.1 are incompatible with 5.5g, use wxl with win 8 on up.

Hmm. Maybe it's just borked. Try redownloading it from this thread (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=88178.0). And try running it as an administrator once. Or try wxLauncher.

I did try redownloading it, but that didn't change anything...

Anyway, the wxLauncher seems to work, even if it's a little annoying in comparison.
I do like that it seemingly detects the installed mods, though.
