Question about Mechwarrior 2 campaign

Has anyone been able to finish this map via the alternative offer by the Dread Legion?
I take out the mechs travelling through the pass (1st primary objective) then as you travel towards the remaining DL (dread Legion) mechs SW corner of the map, a counter offer comms through by the DL. They offer 50,000 to move to secondary objective (C). Supposedly theres a marker there.
Prior to this, supposedly a mechwarrior will side with you against the Dread legion if you inspect his mech. Havent managed to find that one either.
Anyone ever been able to finish this mission by siding with the Dread Legion?
