Title: FreeLancer
Post by: OverDhill on May 21, 2017, 09:53:37 am
I have never played FreeLancer but now that I am retired I was looking at some videos for it. Does anyone here play FreeLancer these days and if so what are the best MODs to improve graphics, resolutions and gameplay?

Is it worth getting into? Does it have a cockpit view? If so does it have any freelook views?

During the stream with mjn.mixeal the guy from SpaceGameJunkies talked about a mod called Discovery and getting a server going for it ... maybe stop by their site or Discord channels to see how far they are along; sounded like there are a good number of features that are going to be added (but that may only be on the host site)

That really depends on your preference... I don't think the single-player story or the universe are all that good (if you know a bit about 19th-20th century histories of Germany, Great Britian, Japan, Latin America and the USA you get a lot deja-vu in the falvour texts)

The gameplay is clearly optimized for pseudo-controller play with mouse and keyboard and therefor not exactly responsive. The non-combat aspects are clearly there but not that deep or interconnected, at least in vanilla.

I don't remember exactly but you could freely rotate around your ship in turret view (all weapons are mounted which can rotate, the ammount of degrees if they are a turret or not)
