Title: RELEASE: Sol: A History Upgraded
Post by: Admiral Nelson on October 23, 2018, 11:37:18 am
Sol: A History

Sol: A History: A prequel to Inferno, Blaise Russel's historical epic follows the political turmoil in Sol after its isolation from the colonies. Lengthy and challenging, S:AH is a major work by one of the community's most successful designers.

S:AH offers you 40+ action packed missions.  This new release has been updated and rebalanced to use assets from Inferno: Nostos as well as from Inferno Alliance and Inferno Alliance Standalone.  Additionally, enemy factions now get their own unique shipsets, instead of just FS1 vessels.  As with anything Inferno related, S:AH is now packed with never before seen models, skyboxes, cbanims and more!  You've flown for the GTVA in Nostos, now try the other side!

1) INSTALLATION

[DOWNLOAD] - Use Knossos:

Click below to get started. The latest revision is 1.0.1.

2) CREDITS

Blaise Russel - Original concept and campaign
Inferno team - Inferno assets such as ships, effects, music etc.
Admiral Nelson - Patch to 2.0 as documented below, FREDing, cbanim creation, skyboxes, etc.
FrikgFeek - Testing, balance advice
Nightmare - Testing
Axem - Model assistance, scripts
Woomeister - Models created for INFASA but included here for the first time
Black Wolf - Many civilian and military models, head ANIs
Nyctaeus - modeling
IronBeer - Head ANIs
Legacy FSCRP team (Mobius, ShadowGorrath, etc) - Earlier patches
BtRL team - EA HUD
PIe - Knossos testing

Special thanks to FrikgFeek for his tireless testing and debugging.

3) CHANGES IN THIS RELEASE

NEW INFASA models included in this release created by Woomeister including three never before released fighters, three never before released capital ships and one transport!
NEW Higher poly version of INFA capital ships, such as the Megaera, Tyr, Vidar and more!
NEW Over thirty new cbanims
NEW Hostile ships in earlier versions of S:AH consisted only of those FS1 craft available in FS2.  Now enemy factions get a full range of ships largely taken from INFA and INFASA!
NEW Earlier version of S:AH used Inferno R1.  This version has been updated and rebalanced to use Inferno: Nostos ships and weapons
NEW Skybox based backgrounds replace legacy bitmap backgrounds
NEW FRED bugfixes and modernization as appropriate
NEW Truetype fonts and fiction viewer entries

Just a quick note for Knossos users who already had S:AH installed that due to upload problems, this is a different mod from the version previously available (and now deleted).  It is not an update so you must download it separately.

Looks like the version increment in Knossos is causing some issue.  We'll need ngld to comment on what's happening with it.  Stand by.

I have run into some weird errors when trying S:AH out. I verified the integrity of the files when I got this msg:

An error was detected while validating the game file integrity. The following packages are invalid:
  - Package maps_ships of mod Sol: A History Upgraded
  - Package maps_skyboxes of mod Sol: A History Upgraded
  - Package Models of mod Sol: A History Upgraded

These mods are invalid and need to be redownloaded before they can be played without errors.
Do that now?
---------------------------
&Yes   &No
---------------------------
After that I tried reDLing those files again. Knossos told me an error occured and it would be posted online. In short, I could not get those files to extract properly

I have also uploaded a debug for you guys to look at: https://fsnebula.org/log/5bcfe007cb0d33228b9fc5a4

One more thing before I forget...I tried installing the mod a 2nd time but the same thing happened

I have indicated in the MVP3.8 release thread that I am not a Knossos user, so I have downloaded the SAH VPs and installed them manually.  What I need to know is what dependencies I need for the mod.ini file.  Are the Nostos and other assets preinstalled with this package, meaning that I only need to include MVP3.8 (or 2014) dependencies, or do they use dependencies with the Nostos folder AND the Media VPs?

primarylist = ;
secondarylist = FSPort MediaVPs, FSPort, MediaVPs_2018;

This is what you need for dependancies if you're using wxL.

Change MediaVPs_2018 to whatever you have them named as.

I can confirm that I am also getting the issues with maps_ships, maps_skyboxes and Models. Even after checking the integrity and trying to re-download, Knossos (supposedly) downloads them but then they get stuck at "extracting" and do not appear in the mod's folder. Wen all three are downloaded, I get a "critical error" from Knossos. This error also appeared when I installed the mod initially.

Do you use an AMD card? If so, you probably hit this bug (https://github.com/scp-fs2open/fs2open.github.com/issues/1901). Please try running a debug build and see if that changes anything. Any information you could provide on that bug might be very helpful since AFAIK no coder has been able to reproduce it, yet.

Little bug on second mission - you can order miner fighters to depart before hostilities commence - this makes mission unfinishable as you cannot achive "destroy fighters" objective.

"kinda bug" - in act two, mission "return of the executioner" I hear the beam power up sound that is very short (like 0.2 or 0.4 second) and looped.
I don't know if this is sound of any weapon or turret but is very anoying.

P.S. No Zagreus light destroyer from INF:A? I kinda liked that design and I'm no fond on a idea that rebels sell ship design to eachother (Still better than using old GW1 ships, but still).

That error comes from using an older version of MediaVPs. You need to use 3.8.x, which contains those asteroid assets.

I've pushed an update which for now should use the older mvp assets instead to fix that issue, as well as to fix the other things such as the inappropriate player orders or beam up noises.

There really wasn't anyplace to use the Zagreus as there is only one UNU destroyer in S:AH, which thus should be the upgraded Megaera model.

The note on the messages screen might be worth mentioning in the high resolution interface thread.  The old interface seems to display a fixed number of lines that does not take font size into consideration.

OK after update I manage to clear act 3 without any problems.

Sidenote: Stinger seems to unable to hit a ****, if **** do an movement other than fly in straight line. The missiles seems to be slower than most fighters and lighter bombers.

In Act 4, "Demobilisation" mission if you fail to stop cruisers from escape you cannot end the mission - no depart, no failure message, nothing - when you jump out it will say you departed without authorization.

There are also several missions in the previous acts that "fail to inform you about your fail or progress to fail", but I forgot to note which of them.

Does the debug log has an entry then? I had an occasion where the regular built crashed to desktop and the debug built as well, but it lived long enough to provide a solution (even though it doesn't crash here).

BTW EAEngParticles-shp has no #Ship Classes and #End, I think the table is ignored.

There really wasn't anyplace to use the Zagreus as there is only one UNU destroyer in S:AH, which thus should be the upgraded Megaera model.

Zagreus would fit well as UNU destroyer as it's a bit less massive (just like UNU is a bit less massive comparing to Jovians and Saturnian). It would also share some design similarities with UNU corvette (is it me or that corvette appear only in one mission?).

That way Tempest/Megarea could be Saturnian destroyer, so they could be a bit less carbon copy of Jovians.

That way we could have someting liek this:
Jovians - Orions on steroids
Saturninans - Megarea
Uranian-Neptunian - Zagreaus

So I've finally started playing this, but I initially loaded up a debug FRED and tested every ship to make sure it all loaded properly.  I get an error with the beam prototype model about not being able to load the sm-trans texture.  Oddly enough, it IS in the VP file.  Not sure what's causing that.  There also appears to be a missing texture asterod9 (yeah, I know it's not spelt right), which I eventually found in the Inferno Alliance VPs.  There's also a warning about docking normals with umb90.pof, which I don't understand either.  Finally, as I started the first mission, I ended up with no primary weapons.  Since there wasn't any combat in the first mission, it wasn't a problem and I thought that perhaps it was some kind of plot choice so you couldn't destroy anything, but then when I checked the loadout room in the 2nd mission, there were no primaries there either.  Would creating a new pilot help?

I also noticed a problem that I tracked back to the 3.8X Media VPs, so it's not a problem with SAH.  It seems that the new Leviathan wasn't included, but the tables for it were.  Fortunately, I had the model in my 2014 VP folder.

Quote from me from the testing thread (concerning mission 1):

During my first playthrough I didn't had any weapons in that mission. I didn't had the problem when playing the mission through the techroom. I restarted the campaign and it worked fine.

I guess I missed that one.  I'll try it again.  Thanks.

[EDIT]
Just tried it, but had no change.  I still had secondaries (as before), but no primaries.

Here's my mod file:

[launcher]
modname      = Sol: A History - 2018
image255x112 = SAH.bmp;
infotext     = Sol: A History: A prequel to Inferno, Blaise Russel's historical epic follows the political turmoil in Sol after its isolation from the colonies. Lengthy and challenging, S:AH is a major work by one of the community's most successful designers.
website      = http://inferno.hard-light.net/;
forum        = http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?board=20.0;

[multimod]
primarylist = ;
secondarylist = FSPort-MediaVPs_2014, FSPort, MediaVPs_38;

It's almost as if my pilot isn't authorized to use any primaries.  I'm gonna try and change pilots.

[2nd EDIT]
I just tested it with a pilot that I've used with Port campaigns and VOILA... primaries are back.

It's because the previous pilot was already "saved" without all the missing starting weapons. A new pilot(or deleting the save files for the old one) gets around that issue.

Hmmm restarting the campaign through the campaign selection room did work for me. Is it possible that the starting weapon selection isn't loaded when a campaign is automatically selected via game_settings.tbl?

I noticed a strange thing in Act 4:
EAF Stentor is mentioned to be the latest and fastest fighter in Sol, yet I'm regulary outrun by Latonas and Alcaeuses - I can barelly keep up with them if I use afterburner.
I didn't use any extreme power setting (like 0 power to the engine) and in tables Latona max speed is 70, Alcaeus is 80 and Stentor is 98.

Yet in game, when I fly Stentor at 98 speed it looks like Latonas and Alcaueses just laught at me :(.
Is it possible something is wrong with direction speed change while doing frequent turns?

So now I've got to play this with the fixed vps, and I've been enjoying it a lot, aside from a few missions that felt hard to me (which is not a fault of the upgrade - I probably had trouble with these missions in the original). I think there's a good balance between nostalgia and the introduction of new elements such as the unique ships for different factions and new dialogue/music. :)

Spoiler:
I was also pleased that Sons of War made the two asteroid stations not the two moons of Mars - that was a pretty ridiculous moment in the original S:AH. :p

There's a few minor issues that I wanted to report so far (I've played all but the final campaign):

I've pushed out another iteration to fix the various small issues noted above, as well as to lock the Leviathan down to the older HTL version for now.

After update I can't run the mod: "Couldn't find executable - aborted".

I verified file integrity and didn't found anything, but I can no longer see FRED start options there.

Edit: Nevermind - FSO update o latest version fixed the issue.

OK, I finished an entire campaign and I think final mission is a bit too easy comparing to original.
Original was  constant 100% fight against wave and wave and wave of fighters and bombers.

Personally I'd throw another rag tag group of cruisers and freighters to take out by player (while Lindos mow the other one).
Also adding several more waves of fighters and bombers wouldn't hurt.

Overall this is great remake of great campaign.
I love the changes you made, the updates with INF:A ships and retconning to fit INF:Nostos storyline better.

The only thing I'd add is some next-gen rebel turrets, as FS1 blob turrets, even in greater numbers are nothing.
I love the rebel Phoenix V missile turrets are so deadly - in attack on Mars dual asteroids, that one gunship mow half of my wingmen in opening salvos - I felt fear in FS2 for the first time since very, very long ago and it wasn't Juggernaur, it was puny gunship!).

Awesome to see S:AH is back! It looks great and I'm excited to play it, but text and models aren't loading for me. I can still play missions, but there's no briefing or mainhall text and the ships are invisible except for glowing parts and cockpits. I'm using the FSO 3.8.1-20181028 build that came with the Knossos install if that helps.

There's been a few reports with the same issue, all of the affected people use AMD Radeons. Apparently, AMD's OpenGL driver doesn't like the way FSO renders that part since it works fine on other cards.

I have no idea what the cause could be (since I don't know much about OpenGL) but hopefully a coder with an AMD card can look into the issue and fix it.

First of all, there are no 2018 MVPs.  There's only the 3.8 MVPs.  Yes I know this is nitpicky but as the recent thread shows, using a consistent versioning scheme helps those who don't really know what they're doing and who aren't using Knossos (even if they should be).
That being said, it should be compatible with the latest MVPs.

Just to be sure, so it can work with the latest MVPs (3.8 as you say) and the ones released in 2014 (I think they're now called 3.7.2)?

On Knossos, it uses the 3.7.2 (formerly 2014) MVPs but is set up to be compatible with v3.8, so it should work with either.  I can't say for sure since I haven't played it, but that's how it's set up on Knossos.

Title: Re: RELEASE: Sol: A History Upgraded

The INF team worked on a sequel (INFA2) and a edited version of INFA in the past, but it is unclear if/when it happens as it has been on-hold for several years (over half a decade now); therefore I'm not sure if it'd make sense to remaster the old INFA at this point.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Sol: A History Upgraded
Post by: Admiral Nelson on November 12, 2018, 06:34:14 pm
AFAIK those projects are all dead; the assets made for them are used here in SAHU so that the effort invested in them is not wasted.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Sol: A History Upgraded
Post by: Nightmare on November 12, 2018, 07:10:44 pm
I've heard that some team members wanted to finish INFA but the rest of the team wanted to focus on Nostos:

Realistically we may eventually resurrect INF:Alliance and/or INF:Gateways, but right now our goal is to patch R1 and work on R2.

Also, not everything from INFA went into SAH-U, for example the Zelos superbomber and the HTL Zagreus weren't part of this release.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Sol: A History Upgraded
Post by: Admiral Nelson on November 13, 2018, 01:20:51 am
The Zagreus has been publicly available for years, so there was no question of waste if not used here.  I do see I was not aware of the Zelos; The ship of that name in your Ships DB is something that looks like an Apache gunship with no rotors and not a super bomber:
(http://media.moddb.com/images/games/1/13/12022/INFASA_Screenshot_25.jpg)

I'm not sure what became of this model, or if it was ever finished.  The cockpit looks empty in this screenshot (the only one I can find).

Apparently I've lost the overview a bit regarding the Zagreus, I had it for so long that I forgot that it was the new version...

There were a couple other ships like a few old low-poly Vasudan ships that were handed to wardog300k (the "archives" ships) and then disappeared, as well as a superdestroyer named JCSD Europa (somehow similar to the Hades in plot concept) which also left only a screen behind. Everything else is (including the other Arcadia extensions) part of Nostos now.

Alright, I've finished this one and it's very, very solid. Blaise's S:AH has risen from the ashes and started knocking down HLP's gates.
I've definitely enjoyed it and I'm really grateful for the remake! :D

On the other side, this is the first time I've ever been dealt so much damage and killed so many times by collisions with random fighters. It also occurs to me a bit that friendly forces seem to have fightercraft a bit inferior to their enemies, while it's the other way around with capital ships. Or maybe it's because of the difficulty setting I chose, whatever.

I have pushed out a small patch which corrects some minor bugs, but more importantly removes the Knossos dependency on the fsport media vps, which in turn enables it to work with the latest mediavps.  Note that the Leviathan is deliberately locked to the earlier model for now as it meshes better with some of the custom ships in S:AH.

Really excited to play this, but my fps has been tanking at some points during battle. Also every time i restart a mission (through death or manual restart) my idle fps (when there is no action going on) seems to drop, like it will be 120 fps, then 100 fps, then 70 etc, each restart

My specs are:
Windows 10 64 bit
EVGA GTX 1070 TI
I7 4790k
16GB DDR3

using knossos and 3.8.1.20181129_097eb92 build

Anything I can do to improve my fps?

This probably pretty obvious...but you might want to check in nvidia control panel whether it's trying to use integrated or dedicated graphics.  Every once in a while a new nightly switches on me and I have to go back and change it myself.

It's a PC, 1070ti and 4790k are full-blown PC size energy hogs that would never ever run in a laptop. Its video output is locked to and only to the graphics adapter to which the monitor is connected on system startup. Besides, his issues show after restarting the mission a couple times, not the game. And I can't even imagine an integrated GPU capable of running FSO in full detail in 60FPS in a respectable resolution :P.

Intel iGPUs have started to suck a little less (I could run Crysis on medium 1080p IIRC?) and I believe it's now possible for even desktop PCs to use one GPU to render while outputting to another to save power.

Not sure if that's happening or not, but I believe it's possible.  You could try submitting a log file?  Might help.  Do it in the other thread though.

@CT27 The nightly you used last time was probably too old. Try using a more recent nightly. Also, please mention which nightly you used next time this comes up.

Since 3.8.0 is even older than the nightly you used before, this is not suprising.

I just tried the January 9, 2019 nightly.

I saw the MediaVPs 3.8 screen but then a "warning" box came up.  However, this box had no text in it.  I clicked on the button that one would usually click on to pass the screen.  When I clicked on the button to try and start the campaign, there was a command briefing picture present but no text.  The regular mission briefing had no text and only ship icons present (the ship icons were just on a black background without the usual grid lines that are on a mission briefing screen).  When I tried to start a mission, it crashed.

For some reason campaigns don't seem to show stuff properly whenever I use a nightly beyond October 31, 2017.
Also, for what it's worth, my computer's graphics right now are AMD Radeon HD 6770.

I used to experience lighting issues when consistently using any builds newer than the 2017-10-31 build.  I say consistently, because often I could use a newer build but only for a while (time indeterminate) before it would break.  After that point, that build would not longer work.  All that changed when I performed a system rebuild and got a new video card.  After that point, the graphical anomalies disappeared.

Any tips for increasing FPS? I'm dropping below 30 if I try to watch the whole battle in End of an Era, so I need to turn some stuff down. I'm not very knowledgeable about this kind of thing, though, so I don't really know what the biggest FPS killers are.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Sol: A History Upgraded
Post by: FrikgFeek on February 18, 2019, 01:16:27 pm
Shadows are by far the biggest framerate killer, especially on AMD GPUs. If that's not helping try decreasing the lighting quality in the in-game settings to 4, which disables laser lighting, really helps with high firerate weapons and huge battles.
If that's still slow start disabling unnecessary HUD elements or setting them to popup. You don't really need a constant reminder that Auto-target is on and auto-speed is off for example, you can safely set those to popup. The vector graphics used for FSO's HUD aren't exactly well optimised so you can gain some frames there.
Title: Re: RELEASE: Sol: A History Upgraded

You can also disable "deferred lighting" in launcher graphic settings. If memory serves, it will disable the majority of lighting effects which should drastically increase FPS.

Thanks for the release! Really loving it so far.

The only issue I have now is in the second campaign. I just did the mission where you get the new fighter along with a new HUD. Problem is, that HUD is low resolution and really messes up my 2560x1440 graphics, as the low-res parts are misshaped and not aligned correctly. Anything I can do about this?

Title: Re: RELEASE: Sol: A History Upgraded
Post by: Knecht Ruprecht on May 30, 2019, 04:59:51 am
Sure!

First screen (as reference) is from the very first mission. This is how it is supposed to look like.

Second screen shows the beginning of "Darkness Falls" from the second campaign (second mission with the new fighters, but the one before was the same). Looking at the images today I assume it is a problem of font size. Notice that in the target cam window some values overlap, as they don't fit its size. But you can also see that the comms text (window as well as upper left corner) is the correct, smaller size.

Third screen shows that the damage window suffers from the same issue. In the secondary weapons list, the timer for the Hellstorm is unreadable because of overlapping.

Any idea what I can try to solve this, or at least to identify the cause? It might not look that bad on the screenshots, but in motion I find it to be extremely irritating.

All screens were made with the same pilot profile. I have not changed anything in the game's HUD config. The only ingame options I changed at all were maxing out all graphics settings, before even beginning to play Sol:AH and not changing anything since.

Edit: After playing a few missions with the issue, I have to retract yesterday's statement of HUD elements being misshaped. The combination of new HUD and the font size issue apparently combined to that false impression. Still, the overly large font is still bugging me, not only because of the overlapping, but also because the HUD is now covering so much screenspace (especially with many wingmen and a large escorts list).

Yeah -- that is the old BtRL HUD.  I've scrapped that from the next version of the mod, as the interface art is too small as you rightly point out.  The only fix really is to redo or replace it.  It did not bother me that much when I was playing it myself, but I can see how it would bother others.  One temporary option would be to create an empty text file called "EA-hdg.tbm" in your data/tables folder, which would leave all ships with the FS1 HUD.  Alternatively you can wait for the next version with the new Inferno ships and new HUD.

Here are a couple of videos showing the new WIP HUD.  Note that the artwork is larger and so not squashed.

Thanks, will try the FS1 HUD. Looking forward to the next version! I have to say, I really like the mission scripting and storytelling. A shame there are no voice-overs. Some missions I really struggle with on medium, me not being the best pilot around. I currently try to beat the one where you defend the Justice against pirates in the asteroid belt. My best take on it so far was to have Justice at 40% when the Lossow arrives and 1% when the Rhom came in.

Edit: Ha! Failed at it a hundred times, posted about it, made it on the next run!  :lol:
Justice survived with 3%. Phew!

That mission "Scouring", where you defend the Formidable and have to destroy two cruisers' VLS? How is that supposed to work out? Tedious weaving in - shooting once, twice at a launcher - weaving out for like three hundred times? Or do I miss something there? My squadmates seem to be unable to do damage to the VLS (like, 0% damage over minutes) even when ordered  to attack the VLS subsystem or disarm the cruisers. I am already using that shotgun cannon, which seems to be the best choice for the task, but I always die because of concentrated AA fire.

The individual launchers are pretty weak, I just used the Aratrum and Peltasts to take them out.  Dive in, strafe an individual bank and speed out, rearming when needed.

I don't have my campaigns on Knossos yet and didn't install Knossos for this one so I had to create a mod.ini for this one (I use wxlauncher).

Is this how it should look?  Or do I need to change a line or two (fyi I heard to use the 2018/3.8 MediaVPs on this one and I haven't downloaded the 4.0 MVPs yet)?

[launcher]
modname      = Sol: A History;
image255x112 = sah.bmp;
infotext     = Sol: A History- upgraded;

[multimod]
secondrylist = FreeSpacePortMVP,FreeSpacePort,MediaVPs_38X;

I used this:

[launcher]
modname      = Sol: A History;
image255x112 = SAH.bmp;
infotext     = Sol: A History- upgraded;

[multimod]
secondrylist = FreeSpacePortMVP,FreeSpacePort,MediaVP;

It certainly works on 3.8 so there should be no problem.

I tried to play but got an error screen saying there was about 223 errors (and that they could be caused by corrupt models/tabels and I should ask the mod people for assistance).

I then did a debug build which I attached a log for.  Can anyone help me with this?

Warning: Dockpoint cargo dockpoint could not be found on model fighter01.pof
File: missionparse.cpp
Line: 1757

I also got this when trying to load mission 2 through the techroom.

Is it possible my 3.8 MVPs need to be updated?

You don't seem to have FSPort installed.

I just checked and I do (v 3.5).  I in fact tested it out with another campaign that says it required FSPort and that one worked okay.

For some campaigns, I did notice there is a special version of FSPort for a particular MVPs set (for example "fsport-mediavps_2014").  Is there a special file like that or something for the 3.8 (released in 2018) MVPs?  Maybe that would make this campaign work.

Otherwise I may have to write off trying this campaign since I can't seem to get it to work.

Well I can see from your log that the game isn't loading any of the FSPort or FSPort MediaVPs .vps, so your mod.ini isn't configured properly for your folder names.

Can you double check the exact folder names for FSPort and FSPort MediaVPs and make sure they match what's in your mod.ini? If your folder name is "Freespace Port"(with a space) then -mod FreespacePort(without a space) won't work.

Code: [Select]
Searching root 'D:\Games\FreeSpace2\FreeSpacePortMVP\' ... 0 files
Searching root 'D:\Games\FreeSpace2\FreeSpacePort\' ... 0 files

While that only means there are no loose files in there, there are no VP files from the folders loaded either.

Thank you!  That worked!  I can play SAH Upgraded now.  :)
I followed your advice and made sure the mod.ini folder names matched the actual folder names in Games/Freespace2.  For example, I had to change Freespace Port to "fsport", etc.

Having a problem with Enemies United. About a minute after the second cruiser jumps in and leaves, I keep getting "detected" even though I'm keeping the proper distance. Weirdly, only the Macavity seems to know I'm there. The fighters don't move to attack me.

I am stuck on  Enemies United.
 No matter what I do once the 2nd cruiser jumps in the pirates spot me and the mission fails.
I have to be missing something simple.

Hello,

First off, i'd like to expres my appreciation for the upgrade!

Its definitely an improvement over the first take. Especially since all factions now have their own set of new ships and researched technology.
The story definitely improved now too.

I did however came across some issues regarding some of the models.

The mod is unable to load the most recent models of the Fenris and the Orion. But the Leviathan has that first upgraded model (The Fenris reskin in blue).
I've also had some instances that the model of the Posideon showed its most basic LOD. This looked quite weird next to the high-poly  Arcadia in mission 2
Also the Textures for the Majesty majesty seem to be missing except for a few. So it looks quite silly when you meet the ship for the first time.

I don't know if everyone is having the same issues or its because something is wrong with my files or settings. But i thought i'd shoot a message.

This version of SAH does use the older models, yes.  There is a WIP version I have that uses the newer ones, but it also requires all the new Inferno ships Nyctaeus has made.  As the Inferno upgrade which contains those new models is not yet released, I can't release that upgraded version at this time.  I'd say the older Fenris and Leviathan can be compared favorably to the older Inferno models.  Whenever the revised Inferno Nostos is releaed I will release the upgrade to the upgrade.

Saw something strange in SAH which I have never seen before...after the latest update to the mod I found some visual glitches I have never seen before...the draw distance on ship models are out of wack. The ships would "morph" into view as I closed distance on them. Not sure how else to describe what I saw. I have a debug which I hope helps out...

FreeSpace 2 Open version: 21.3.0.20210813_47f84846e

Not sure what exactly that is, but you shouldn't play SAH with a nightly build.  I haven't updated it in quite a while now so it would not need one.
