Title: Post Meridian bug?
Post by: Iain Baker on August 15, 2019, 04:48:00 pm
Hi all!

I was testing my PC's shiny new 16GB RAM goodnes to see if doubling the RAM would prevent some of the terrible stuttering issues I had previously. It did :-)  Or setting shadow quality to 1 via command line did it. Either way a buttery smooth 60FPS all round.

I was testing this via Post Meridian via the techroom using the Shift+Ctrl+S cheat (as this was one of the missions that was stuttering badly before). All was good until I needed to call in the strikes against the Herc 2 treb formations. It did the usual countdown but then the pop up said 'press none to call in strike'. Therefore no calling in slammery goodness. I was then a very sad pilot :-(

Does this happen if playing this mission via the techroom, or would it be due to my mistakenly assigning the 'one' key to something? (In this case the external view) I tried resetting the controls to defaults and starting again but I got the same problem. Any ideas re how to fix this? Would a fresh reinstall sort it out?

If it was due to assigning the one key to something than perhaps place a warning somewhere (the details section on knossos perhaps) letting players know which keys they should avoid assigning to anything because they are coded to specific in game events which might go a tad pear shaped if people mess with them.

In fact I would suggest this for every campaign / mod etc. that does something similar.

Look for the multiplayer chat keys. That's where the BP people seem to have put all the new functions.

Thank you, I'll give that a try.

Makes sense using multiplayer keys since they are never used anymore.
