If you are reading this you have stumbled on the first of Ferdinand’s little “presents”. He had our job before you and me. And he left a surprising number of messages, which will play if certain commands are entered.

Most of them appear to be the product of frustration and/or boredom. Although you have to admire lengths he went to in order to put them into the system, I guess.

While they can be annoying, I will not deny that these messages are the closest thing to actual company you will get on this station in between visits from the supply ship: Having a one-sided arguments with this absent loudmouth helped me cope with the loneliness, and I can hope it will do the same for you.

My name is Carla Naidu and Interplanetary Expeditions has assigned me to be your primary person of contact in any emergency situation.

However due to a scheduling conflict with the company, I will be unavailable for the first five days after you arrive at your post.
Simply put, the freelancer who the company hired to substitute for me got in trouble with members of Nightwatch. Interplanetary Expeditions has a very strict policy regarding such incidents and had to let the person go. The end result is that I am out of the office and the company has no one to fill in for me.

The Station is fully automated and according to the maintenance logs from your predecessor in very good condition. So there should be no problem until I get back.
In case there might be a problem with the system call the “SYSTEM INFO –AUTODIAG” command. It should provide you with suggestions on how to handle the situation until I am available at HQ.

When I am back in the office, I will be available using the “LRC –HQ_Carla” command. Do not worry about the explaining the situation, I can use the Tachyon Uplink right here on Earth to access the Station’s system and perform a remote diagnostic. However do mind the time difference between the Station and Tel Aviv is nine hours.

I don’t exactly know how to put this, but your Station was very inconvenient amount of security measures in place. Most of the remote diagnostic tools fail to retrieve any data through the tachyon uplink between your station and Earth.

I am checking in with team at the Mérida office, who are in charge of your sister station. But there is another seven hour time difference between here and the Yucatán, so I think it would be best to work this on both tracks.

Encryption is the blanket term for various technical means by which a message can be secured, so that its contents can only be known by people with the permission to know them. It is usually deployed alongside additional technical security measures, such as narrow-band point-to-point transmissions and dead drops.

Dekker's avatar suffocated horrifically after the airlocks to the command module opened and the station gradually achieved thermal equilibrium with the planet outside and exchanged the breathable atmosphere within with the much thinner and very much less breathable atmosphere from the outside.

When the Cedar Forest fails to contact anyone in the station as it arrives for its scheduled supply drop, it informs IPX Headquarters on Earth. Soon after another ship arrives to investigate, they find the station in as is, and clean it up and install another oblivious soul as human back-up.


Dekker is now ineligible to issue further commands until Turn 60 (plus/minus 4 turns).
