Title: Fallen in love again, and thank you.
Post by: starbug on June 14, 2020, 03:13:47 pm
Well, after watching all of the Expanse during lockdown i found myself longing for a bit of Freespace and i have rebooted up Blue Planet along with Solaris which i also love and supplied some models for :). I have completely fallen in love again with the mods and freespace and quote scotty from ST

"it's like the first time you fall in love. You never love a woman quite like that again"

I had forgotten just how much i loved Freespace and the Blue Planet, its crazy how emotional i got at the intro to War in heaven, So much so i am going to upload the intros to my Youtube Channel and have messaged a Youtuber called Captain Shack, XPgamers and spacedock to try and get some more for love for freespace and Blue Planet.

Upon re-downloading Blue Planet, i couldn't help but notice new models for ships and new ships themselves, namely a new Dreadnought for UEF. Do any of these ships now appear in the campaign? also i noticed the Hecate Mk2 model is now just using the normal Hecate model instead of the armoured one, is that correct?

Anyway even if we don't get any more blue planet, which i hope is not the case i just want to say a massive thank you to the mod team for creating such an amazing piece of Science fiction and a mod that i think is better than actual released games. I have laughed, cried, got angry(mainly with the mission of the Carthage, lets see if i have better luck this time round) and loved it.

So thank you! (right i am off to get more tevs!)

That is, for the moment anyway, correct. The old armored Hecate was removed because we want a shiny new armored Hecate based on the current MediaVPs model, but that takes time to make.

Wait, doesn't that mess up mission balance?

No, the table entries didn't change, only the model did.

Ok, but what about all the extra turrets on the up-armored Hecate?

I was slightly misremembering. I forgot that I asked around and MattTheGeek made a version of the new Hecate that mirrors the turret layout of the up-armored variant (sorry Matt!); The only major difference right now is the lack of the armored shell around the forward hull.
