Derelict wasn't bad. It had some novel ideas for gameplay, and a plot better than some. The only thing that bothered me about it was that the missions were either insanely slow and dull or next to impossible. Or both at the same time- the whole "kill 500 Lokis trying to blow up one half-dead freighter" thing got REALLY tiresome. But you know what I liked best about it? It actually got DONE. And it didn't SUCK. Two things which immediately put it in the elite of campaigns.
I think it's high time for some honesty here. Most of us have some skill or another. Few of us know a little of everything. We don't have incompetent modelers heading TCs. Why do we have people who can't write half-decent sci-fi coming up with our plots?
Once again, I think it's time to face facts and just get rid of the really sucky ones. Yeah, sure, everyone wants their name in the head credits of a campaign, but it ain't gonna be much good if people don't at least apprentice at another campaign first. It's like writing your first short story, having never written before, and wanting it to be a bestseller. Or expecting, having never directed or touched a movie camera, to make a blockbuster film. Dream on.
