A little problem

Every time I shut down my new PC I get the following message:

Your system is running low on virtual memory. Windows (or System) will attempt to encrease your Virtual memory paging file ( :wtf: )
etc... The other details aren't important. It says something about using Win Help but I didn't find any "help" there. :no:

Since I am not a Windows expert and this thing is really annoying, how do I fix this problem? Is there any way to increase this Virtual memory (paging file) since Windows doesn't give a **** about doing something on it's own, so it seems that I will have to do something about this.
Any thoughts?

2 questions
1) is it realy xp
2) how much space is there where the OS is installed ?

Bingo! :yes:

It is Windows XP (Home Edition if it means anything)

There is plenty of space on the HDD. I got the PC last friday. I think there is about 50 GB space left.

how much ram do you have?
what settings do you have on virtual memory management?

I get slow downs too

But I went to Control panel, system, Advanced, Next to Performance click Settings. I boosted my Virtual memory to 5 GB. For now I got GIG to spare..
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

well having a page file is actualy a bad sign anyway :D
normaly the page file should be sufficient
i dont know what you do but if it always wants to increase it you should upgrade your RAM

so you can specify the pagefile size in the control pannel
cant look at it right now but as soon as i get to oportunity to boot into xp ill tell you where to find it exactly

the recommended value would propably be sufficient. 1.5times the RAM or something.

Hey, it worked. BTW I have 256 MB Rambus RAM and I set the virtual memory from 800MB to 1200MB and it looks like it works fine for now. Before re-seting it was only 350 MB. :no:
