Odd problem with Jostick FS2 and XP

I have reinstalled FS2 on a new PC with XP and it refuse to find the Joystick. Every other program finds a Joystick only FS2 not. Are there any solutions for that problem?
Windows shows that a Jostick is there and also other games run with it...
I have it on the soundcard and its not an USB Jostick (quite old Wingman).

if its old you have to set a compatability mode to win 2000 or older

I have allready set the comp mode to Win 98... nothing happens.
Also reinstalled the soundcard-driver, dosn't work, but my soundcard work better now...at last something good.

try to set it at win 2000

thanks for the comment i had the same prob so i am a maybe half expert on xp
