Just got this a while ago...

Absolutely the most beautiful game, ever. I've seen scenes in the game cooler-looking than any render I've ever done, and then some. Reflection, particles (and more particles), stunningly detailed models... and if the actual strategy's a bit weak, and the gameplay a bit confusing due to the excess of detail, who's to notice?

The screenies don't do it justice, particularly since I took 'em before I cranked it up to full resolution. I recommend getting this game just to drool over the graphics.

As for the actual gameplay, better than most. Basically, if you liked Master of Orion, you'll like this, but you'll be quick to note that it doesn't quite come up to its ancestor. The diplomacy is restricted to multiplayer (which I can't get working, damn Gamespy), and the fighting, well, I've seen better. Somewhere between StarCraft and HomeWorld, with bonus points for overcomplexity (you really can overextend yourself in this game, get spread across a dozen or so star systems, at least in the more advanced bits. It's fun.)

So, anyway. That's my impromptu review. Want pretty pictures, get this, definitely and now. I'd recommend getting this anyway, most cases, but MOO3 is coming soon, and it promises to be truly godly, if the hints they're dropping are true...

Dude, I like the fighters. Remind me of WWII Spitfires and Zeros.

I've played the demo, pretty sweet lookin' game (amazingly, the pretty graphics ran perfectly smoothly on my relic) and gameplay looked to be fulfilling to some extent. Just wasn't my sort of game though... (it had a lack of personality in the demo, don't know about the full)

I still occasionally use a publicity screen from this game as a wallpaper. Can't bring myself to get the game though, since it falls squarely into on of the types of games that I dislike. Shame they couldn't have made a space sim out of it. ;)
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

Agreed. Haegemonia is A1-SUPAR in any way. Get it people.

*runs to take some screenshots*

Eh... those screenshots don't look too special. Though they're just blurry screenshots, and the explosions do look good, but I can't know about the ships.

Also, graphics don't make a game. I wouldn't buy a game for graphics, only.

Edit: Also, what kind of computer does it need for full graphics?

Haegemonia rules, but can't beat Imperium Galactica 3...

I have already played Earth and Mars campaigns through. ;)
I have to say that Hegemonia is addictive, it's not the best RTS around, but its good enough. :)

I have seen Matrox Parhelia demo of Imperium Galactica III and graphics are nice, my only hope is that game is also very good. :)
Graphics alone does not make game good, let alone enjoyable.

:nervous: First I've heard of this game. How long have I been under a rock? Looks good anyway.

Want good graphics? Wait for "Eve - The Second Genesis."

Not sure I'll get it though, monthly fees would severely reduce my already-small expenditure on computer stuff :p

The funny thing is... people have been saying that since I first visited the site (a few years ago when the VBB was still up) :D

And, for now, it's true...

And, if (as always) this becomes the standard or lowest common denominator in two or three years, then DAMN I want a high-quality renderer THEN!!:D
