Hmm... I'll venture a guess at #1. Though it's admittedly shot in the dark :)

In this screenshot - http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/inferno/screens/INFGTVA1-13a.jpg - I noticed one thing. Earth is looking a lot less round than your average background pcx planet does, so could it be you've actually made a planet model instead of using a background?

hmmm it actually might be that.

That is a model, but I dunno if woo meant models as in ships exclusively or not.

No it has no turrets.

Only the Vasudans have a planetary defense system at the moment (INF2)
