(engine wash) spinning in circles
Hi everyone and merry christmas

ran into a small problem with a model i`ve been playing with from the old wing commander mod that was out ages ago...

Most of these models didn`t have engine glows so I have edited one of the models the (Excaliber) and put engine glows and an engine subsystem on it.. have set engine wash default to 100..

Now the problem arises when I approach the model from behind, at about 800 meters or so distance my fighter gets put in a horrid and wild spin from the wash, making it nearly impossible to even trail the ship... (couldn`t disable if I tried)...

I have tried removing the engine wash line completely but the same problem exsist   :eek2: Getting very dizzy

Any suggestions and comments are welcome

( Edit )  There is also wash present when the ship is sitting still, that never happened before ?!?!

Whatever the problem was still unknown to me...

I have a copy of FS2 on my C and D drives, the copy on D had this error, I copied this model to c-drv and guess what.... Yep,  the engine wash problem doesen`t exsist, so as far as i`m concerned, the problem is solved  :)

I've run into that before.  Infact, at present both the TBP Warlock and Primus dummy models have it.  Very annoying...haven't found what the solution is yet.

*Cough* *Cough* *Thruster properties string* *Cough*

We don't possibly want to reference to engine subsystems that don't exist, now do we?

I`m known for not seeing what is right in front of me, from time to time :wtf:

Oh, there are a number of models out there with thruster glows and no engine subsystem, may have been an oversight, but then again i`m no moddler to be making any assumptions or comments so thats all i`ll say for now...

(edit) thruster properties.. $engine_subsystem=$engine01

Ok I had it listed this way( $subsystem=$engine01) when it should have been as shown above Cool  Thanks Eternal one

Found 3 different references to engine subsystem...

In the POF constructor suite there are 2 references to engines, (special and engines), special also is used for all subsystems, sensors, radar, communication and weapons...  And not to forget the ships table which makes the 3rd..

Also have noted that if the spelling is not the same in all 3 the engine subsystem will not show up in fred or the mission (examples) $engine, $engines or $engine01 have to be listed the same in all three

Just thought this imformation to be important, because if the engine subsystem is not present the ship can not be disabled without destroying the ship in question...

Hopes this may be of some help.

(edit) Where I stated engine01, this comment is used for mutiple engines engine02, engine03 and so on..
