I need to know how to make magma effects in Photoshop on the dark part of a planet, so that you just see glowing pools of magma.  Any ideas would be helpful.

:sigh:Oh well, that didn't help much, ive already talked to KT, and the other planets i've seen there aren't exactly what i'm looking for.  Thanks anyway Setekh:).  Anyone with any other ideas?

I'd probably do something with the "render clouds" and "render difference clouds" features of PS, which are excellent (I have something of an equivalent myself, but it's... different). This is what I threw together quickly.

Eh. Just use the one-pixel brush with a reddish-orange shader on a 75% or lower opacity setting, and draw spots and cracks. Move the cursor slowly- if you're using a trackball, your hand will be almost automatically unsteady enough to generate random shapes- just don't let it get insto streaks. If you want, go back over and speckle what you did with more red and yellow colors.
