How many polys can your apps/computers take? Mine seems to get irritatingly slow at around 1 million (which sucks for hi-poly modeling), and I'm wondering how obsolete that is...

Slow and jittery at 5,000 and dead by 100,000.

When i use like 5/6 B5 omega destroyers and some other large ships and fighters i get around 2/3 million poly's. So far i hadn't any real slowdowns. But i think 4/5 million wil get me a good slowdown.

My realtime display updates get slow around about 50k polys (in solid shaded, edge highlited mode). In wireframe, I'm good to about 1.5 million, sometimes 2 million depending on the number of layers.
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

I think mine might rely on what kind of polys they are, too, somehow- probably a program thing. I did a cruiser a while back that was only about 5-600,000 which clogged my comp entirely, but made use of some autocadded greeble blocks, but at the moment I've got a freighter in the shop at far beyond that doing fine (a bit slow at mesh modeling, as in I went and had dinner between polygon selections, but still good for spline, importing, prims, and positioning).

...

All right, a million mighta been a bit high of an estimate. I wonder if I'll get my rendering computer back any time this week.:nervous:

Wait, wait, wait... still more or less functional at... 1,664,844! Score!

Of course, I can't actually manipulate the model, now, and I'd never do the ****up I did on it again, but still. Freaky.

I wish. I'd use 'em up, too.

Aand.... best not count that last one. My computer sounds just a bit short of blue-smoking, and it's taken half an hour to reposition the camera properly (STILL don't have it).

My highest poly model would be about 270000, it takes a bit a few seconds to process commands, but it only has 256MB ram, so i dont really blame it.
