Which texture scheme?
ok, this is a vasudan freighter in progress for  Twisted Infinities and we are currently stuck on which texture/skin to use on it. the poll i posted on the Wing Commander board has got only 3 votes in over a week, i'm sticking this here to get more opinions. :D

the model is finished as far as i can tell, but we can't decide between the texture schemes. typhoon lacks variety as there are only a few compatible textures, but there is also a distinct lack of this type in the community. on the other hand scalled textures offer more variety, but almost all fan made vas ships i have seen are scalled.

typhoon type currently looks like this:

scaley like this: (only the final one will look much better should it get more votes. this was just replacing textures)

opinions? (suggestions welcome also)

cargo dock for it's own type of cargo. :) it fits neatly on either side of it.

the cargo pod isn't textured, or even a finished model, but here's a pic of roughly what it will look like :)
it's texture scheme will look better of course and the model will be more rounded.

First one looks nicer for this model.

There is no such Vasudan ship as the "Typhoon". Perhaps you're thinking of the Typhon?

Have you tried the GVFr Bes textures?  Those don't make many appearances, but they seem to fit most Vasudan designs well.
who needs a signature? ;)

nope not yet, thanks for the tip :) testing now
edit: :( nope, doesn't really work-there's not really any suitable trim for the bes textures, and certain parts just don't look right. :(

I like the first if this is a warship, but since it's just a frieghter then teh second scheme fits better. I think military ships should look cooler than non combat ones ;)
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

Here's a thought: Which contractor is building these? If it's Akeaton Corp. than go with the scale-type, but if it's the same contractor that built the Typhons, then go with that one. Or maybe it's another contractor and a totally new, but similar, texture is in order.

It's just a thought, but when I build or mod something, I try to provide as much background info as I can. I find that refering to that background data helps in the decision making process.

Personally, I prefer the new scale-type of texture generally.

The first design is cool looking, but to me it looks more like the Pegasus then a Vasudan ship. The second one is undoubtably Vasudan. :)
