Here is a render dedicated to my campaign. What do you think?

That's one flat planet. Sulfur oceans?

And the clouds look like high-flying jets wouldn't survive crashing into.

The layout's good, though you might wanna tone down that nebula a bit on the brightness. I had this headache before, but I didn't notice it so much until I took a look at that.

I thought that to be Vasuda prime. You remember it was devastated by the Shivans. Of course if you have a better idea on how it would look like. By the way, whats wrong with the nebula?

It's a bit bright for my tastes. But then again, I haven't been in full daylight in.. what, must be two days now.

Well, deserts aren't shiny... maybe if you can get a map of Dune or something. Otherwise, well, deserts are tricky- you might have to make it yourself to get it to look right, I dunno.

You're right. Deserts aren't shiny, but where can I find a picture of Vasuda prime? Is it available anywhere?
By the way, that background over there is made by me. Including both the nebula and the planet. But I dunno, I kinda like the nebula. Anyway, I appreciate your opinion.

EDIT: Perhaps a little gamma correction can do the trick about too much shineyness.

Needs a bit more gradient around the planet for the atmosphere. Has it is right now it kinna looks like the planet was pasted on. (Meaning overly defined edges)

Decrease the Sea level in Lunarcell for your planet, - that will get rid of the shinyness. Also, make sure you have a high complexity land with plenty of craters to make it look damaged. Increase the depth of the air (though this will affect colours, so you may have to fiddle with them a bit).

The nebula is also a little bright, and the engine glows too dim. Get rid of the white outline on the text, and possibly change to a more interesting font. Try to add a few more stars up the top as well.

Despite saying all that, I do like it - the camera's in a good spot, so my initial reaction was a good one. These things cropped up onyl after I'd been looking at it for awhile, and they're mostly settings changes - details that can be fixed relatively easily.

Make sure there are only two major land masses, as Vasuda only has two continents.

I know that. By the way, here is the new version of the render. I re-made the Vasuda Prime. The Interlace effect may not be that good, but if you want a one without it, it'll be posted at once.

By the way, I would also like to thank Stunaep for helping me out with Interlace effect.

Unusual thought. May I know why?

It seems to me that the newer version is too grainy. Maybe a nice medium between the two would work out really good.

Real nice, though you need some light bleeding on that bright section of the nebula in your first one. :)

the lighting on the ships does not match the lighting on the planet, and in fact the planet doesn't seem to have any lighting at all

I don't know how did you notice this.  I made that background in Photoshop and just placed it as a backdrop in LW. I suppose it doesn't have lighting because it is just 2D. It is not a model. By the way Bobboau, which render are you talking about?

both of them actualy, but the second one the planet is lit from the back and the ships are lit from the sides/front, if you are useing lunarcell you can have the planet shaded properly, but I think it would be better to have it generate maps to be used on a sphere that you render with the ships

I like the first general scene, but everything on the planet looks too flat and solid. Also, the oceans look like urine, make it less brilliantly yellow :D

In fact, if it's Vasuda, make its oceans blue like Earth's.  Terrans and Vasudans have similar characteristics (oxygen-breathing, terrestrial) that would pretty much only occur on wet planets.  Make the oceans really small, though, (or just make the landmasses huge) and you should have a winner.  And definately make the planet as a map and apply it to a high poly sphere in your rendering program.  It'll look 1000 times better that way.
