Why do they call themselves Hammer of Light if they're Vasudan?

Because they are a militaristic group forged in the heat of battle (Hammer); it is customary to have a conjunctive, usually 'of', when associating a smaller section of a larger group or movement (Of); they fight in the belief that the Shivans are a cosmic force sent to purge the wicked and evil (Light).

Thus they are an army who fight for the preservation of the order of the cosmos.

Also, FS was sold to things largely resembling humans, most of whom spoke English.
