New Dawn Resolution – Sampler Random Scene

My name is Damien Sonatine. I am a Lieutenant Commander of the Galactic Terran Vasudan Alliance Military, GTVA Service Number 113-74-2001. I am stationed onboard the GTD XT-01 Nexus Class Destroyer New Dawn. Metal Sirens Multi-Role Multi Purpose Space Superiority Fighter Squadron, designation, Wing Commander, call sign – General. My sole purpose is as follows. Constantly these thoughts run through my head, but passively - reminding me...
1. Ensure all safety of all civilians unless otherwise ordered.
2. Protect all GTVA Military assets.
3. All orders will and must be completed.
4. I will kill all hostiles.
5. To fail is to die; there is no fail in my missions.
Those orders have rung in my ears for months on end, almost becoming a year. I have applied those thoughts to my actions. After the first three sorties of my newfound ideals, they became as natural as defending yourself when attacked. Or opening an umbrella in the rain.
Right now I stand in this darkness, this, void... the name chosen for it was true... Space... nothing but that. I stand in this darkness awaiting. Waiting for the enemy. Behind me I command more than twenty squad mates... and hundreds more below my rank. And behind them are the dreadnaughts that in my opinion bring death wherever they go. These, destroyers to me are useless and ineffectual as weapons of peace. They bring war with them. They bring the enemy.
But there is one destroyer that brings about the hope of life for our people. The People I protect. A new recruit to the fleet asked me what are we fighting for. I obviously told him the normal response. Sadly though the truth is... you may be fighting for this military, this fleet, and these people. But when you’re in the battlefield, you fight for only one person... yourself... to survive.
As I bring my Myrmidon fighter about. I past down the rows of fighter and bomber wings... in the hundreds... I breathe and spoke one pure statement...
“On my order... unleash hell.”
I came back around to my original position... I saw 15 kilometers away from our position, subspace vortexes opening in the dozens. Then it grew into the hundreds, followed by dozens of larger vortexes, Corvettes and a few Destroyers. The dark vastness of space had a new meaning to it. I suddenly had a startling revelation... we are freeing space... “FreeSpace”... by human detention free was something good; freedom on the other hand had a deeper meaning, so maybe that’s why Botezae refers to these missions as the FreeSpace Crusade. But, he drop the –dom prefix... We are to live free...
In peace... how...? I’m sweating... why...? (*Flashback) Lauren... Lauren? LAUREN! Come back to me...? Where are you? Lauren... come back... unnh...? What the hell is happening to me?
I hear AWAC support in the back of my head... they are closing in... fast. They are awaiting orders...
Were outnumbered by no more than a hundred more fighters... Odds in favor of the opponent...
All pilots... we will survive... acquire your guidance locks...

New Dawn Resolution:
Moddification & FS2 Enhancement Project. The project revolves around 2 founding principles. 1 is realism. In the coming weeks and months I will have along with others updated/upgraded many backgrounds in the FS2 engine, as well as other tweaks to enhance the realism of this series. As well as a moddification that will change the players aspect on FS to a whole other level.
