I'd had the idea for this scene for a while but only now have i really been able to put it together, thanks to Truespace.

*beaming*

Future plans - downloaded Gliterato, Lunarcell and Solarcell for PSP, so expect some more detailed backgrounds.

The hecate itself looks quite good actually, nice lightning.
the beams and explosions needs a lot more work, tho.

That's really cool!:yes: You just need better impact explosions... and badly. Maybe you could extract some frames from the FS2 explosion ANIs and layer them on.

ok dont take this wrong but  the stars in your flares are tacky if you going to have an effects of starting go for something subtle and withouth hard edges

imapct explosions yeah need work too but simply extract an image of an explosion map it toa  plane and dump it in your scene - obviously make sure the black areaof the palne is transparent  for best effect might need to make an alpha image of the explosion

that said the lighting is nice infact i relaly like the lighting good start dont give up on teh image now though with a little extra effort it will be great

you can make some fairly cool beams in TS,
go here and get some custom shaders, spesificly 'edge alpha'
then make a few cylenders with some fractal colors on them and then you have a beam, do the same with spheres and you have glows, something like a plane with a frame from one of the in game explosions on it for were it hits.
though you will need one of the more recent versions of TS (I think the TS3 that has been made free will do, but there are ways to get more recent versions)

Well i forgot to save the file as a PSP file, so it no longer has layers and there is no easy way to delete the explosions. :(
Anyway, there's some useful advice here, i'll try to get some FS2 explosions in, though i'm still working out how to get rid of the black outline.
I'm away for a few days (sailing) but when i get back i'll have another go at it. In the mean time, guess who has some new plug ins to play with. (217kb) ;)

In PSP, put them on a Black filled Raster Layer with whatever Opacity setting looks good, and set it to Screen - this will eliminate all he blackness and mould it nicely with the image.

Have you not seen my renders? They're all in trueSpace (the 3D element of them, that is).

That aside, I like the Hecate as well. The angle and lighting rocks.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. Ok, two tips that will help immensly:

1 - On the layer in PSP that has the beams, set the blending mode to "screen" (see title). That will make them glow.

2 - For the explosions, what most people do is just rip a frame from one of the FS2 explosion ANI's and paste that - also on a layer in screen mode - in their render.

Hope it helps!

Thanks, i'd never thought to do that. Actually i'd never really investigated blend modes much at all, maybe i will. :drevil:
