I've got two questions:
how about particle emitters on ships? The idea of this would be when you destroy certain subsystems (say the reactor subsystem of the Hepash-thingy (the Vasudan destroyers), it would start belching 'fire' (for want of a better word). This would be sort of like the fire trails than all ships have when damaged, except that they would be larger and be set at specific places (when a model is built). Acually the above example is a bit poor since the fire would belch straight into the destroyer and would look naff, but you get the idea (hopefully!). Each particle would have an speed of 0, and last only say 10 seconds. If the ships moving, there is a trail of fire, if it's not moving, then you just a get a larger glow.
I'm no programer so I don't know how hard or easy this would be.
Second question:
Can you add options so that I can turn off some of the new fancy bits you've created, glow maps being a prime example. On the whole, they are fine but on some V missions if there are a lot of ships my computer slows down to a crawl. With just 'normal' (ie no source code improvements) the missions runs at proper speed with no slow down. I would like to be able to play the game, with the new SEXP improvements, without the game slowing down to a crawl. This options doesn't have to be in game, an options panel on the desktop would do me just fine.
That is all.
