Is it methane or ammonia that's the good explosive? I seem to remember methane being higher-yield incendiary, but I'm not sure...

AFAIK it is methane, since amonia isn'tall the inflamable IIRC.

and methane gives a good bang, as long as you get the equation oxygen/methane right, wich is 2:1 IIRC.

uhm, lemme grab my chem book and find out.
edit:

uhm amonium is NH3, so amonium nitrate would be something like (NH3)2 N, right?

don't see how that would help an explosion, unless some reaction splits it up into Hydrogen and Nitrogen, that would be fun.

Is it Ammonium Chloride you're thinking of? I know it's toxic, it might also be combustive- me not being interested in weapons that don't involve raging fireballs or at the very least red-hot lead, and being on the other hand more than a bit interested in having a working set of lungs, I never experimented with the stuff.
