Just a though... i haven;t been keeping up to date, so not sure if this has already been implemented...

basically, how about allowing an AVI file to be played before a mission commences, either as a prelude or simply something like a little launch animation.  You could set it up so this plays 'over' the loading screen (maybe..not sure how the timings would work out).  I think this shouldn;t be too hard - i'm sure some if not all of the exisitng code tcould be reused / referenced to do it....

Sweet deal...I always liked games like the original C&C (and Red Alert) where a movie sequence would sort of prime you for the action ahead.  So cool.

maybe even a stupid movie with the game engine, like tachyon, with your fighter taking off from a capship/base or whatever, depending by where you are stationed
