If people want to download all these new missions and stuff, like the new campaigns, the "official" FS2 site doesn't have any links or anything like that to here does it?
Thus, any new person couldn't find new missions, mods etc for the game wouldn't be able to find anything, unless they knew where to look?? O.o

It links to VW, I think, and VW has the VW-Archives.

From VW, it's a short step to HLP.

Since the VBB died, things have taken a nose-dive. Though there's enough of an in-flow to keep things alive.

I just brought up six pages of handles that never even had one post; these the guys you're talking about?

How many are dead links?
I took a quick look at the member page (lots of people registered) I think the last time this type of discussion came up there were around 1200 users.

I was wondering if there was a way the board could weed out those who are not (active), I would state that at a minimum 1 post a month average. If you can't manage that either 1, your internet died, or 2 you are Super Lurker! (meaning at end of 6 months if you have less than 6 posts board kicks you, but you can re-register)...  That way we get an fairly accurate gauge of the board's health (active flow). Also these day loggers (those that come for the day and never come back) get erased.

Thoughts?
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

If you do that you are killling the newbies, you are destroying the fanbase and any hope that this game might have.

No-one HAS to post. We do it because we want to. Some of those posting or not, are coming here occasionally, others come and never return. What is the point? Well, with FS2 effectively freeware, those who return and their cookie makes it easy to post, will get involved.

Besides, that post count you speak of is opening the road to, well forum fascism :(

I got 34000 posts, how many have YOU got? etc

When I got here there were something like 800+ Now they are 1200- Instead of rejoycing that a 4+ year old game got a new lease of life, meaning people play it, you want to Kill it OFF?
If you want to be ready for Wing Commander Saga: The Darkest Dawn, then download and play the prologue first.

Here,

Then, while waiting for the Darkest dawn, Download Starshatter 4.02

You 'll understand why once you have.

Uh... no, dude. There must be a few hundred handles here that made maybe one post half a year ago and then dissapeared entirely. If they're not using 'em, they won't miss 'em. Assuming they ever even come back to view threads, which they just plain don't. They gone, ese. They long gone, and deleting their handles wouldn't be killing anything at all, since nobody's home.

Also, the whole slippery slope to forum fascism thing has to be the lamest argument I've heard all month. You can't just compare every ****ing thing to Hitler and assume that makes you right, dude.

On the other hand, if I was an admin, I couldn't be bothered to eliminate all those names, and the admins are, if anything, even lazier than me- hence, it'll never happen.

I see no benfit in deleting those who dont post. First of all, if they ever return, it makes it easier for them to get involved. Secondly, they may just be extreme lurkers. And thirdly, having a large number of registered users makes the board seem bigger and more active than it is, which could be advantageous to prove to the "outside world" that the game still has a sizeable following.

I wouldn't worry about it though, since the admins would have to manually delete the accounts, and thats alot of work, and no one likes work:nod:

I must concede that that forum fascism was, well, WRONG and wrongly put, Stryke9, however I do feel strongly about having MORE people instead of less.
