Valve doesn't like in game advertising?

I wonder if this is just about trying to get public opinion back after the Steam Debacle.......

Haven't played CS nor CSS for some time, but the ads I've seen depended on the server. If you played on a UK2 server, they had some addons that showed UK2 adds. And not to mention the sprays by players.

It may be because the textures have been overlayed in a messy manner, but those images look Photochopped to me.

I doubt it. Valve are just pissed off that they aren't getting their hands on any of the money from this.

Yeah, I actually thought it was something clever by Valve.

The reason the textures look photoshopped is because the textures are tiled, and I think lighting isn't being applied as much to the ads to make them stand out more. They're also BIG BLARING WHITE on grey/tan.

Yeah, I actually thought it was something clever by Valve.

The reason the textures look photoshopped is because the textures are tiled, and I think lighting isn't being applied as much to the ads to make them stand out more. They're also BIG BLARING WHITE on grey/tan.

Also because any ingame ad is automatically displayed at the highest possible, most visible contrast and colour settings - in other words so it's unavoiadable and also looks completely 'wrong' for any sort of realistic environment (where advertising would be mucky, smeared, torn, worn, scribbled over or have big cocks drawn on it).  Not to mention the sort of obvious geographic problems - I doubt downtown Baghdad would carry adverts for the Sci-fi channel, for example.
