Laptop Keyboards and older games
Anyone had experience with older games not functioning quite right on a laptop, specifically dealing with Soldier of Fortune, but I suppose it could apply to any game. The problem is that it doesn't seem to be recognising the laptop keyboard when you go to change the key configs. Actually, it doesn't recognise it in game either. Anyone know what might be up? Would it just be this game or has anyone else seen this sort of thing happening?

Games expect a full keyboard connected through a port it can recognise (like Serial or PS/2 or USB or some ****).

If the keyboard is integrated or (like my laptop one) has no traditional number-pad, the games don't like it.

I've got to press num-lock on my laptop and activate the alternate keyboard config (a laptop inbuilt function) whenever I want to barrel-roll in FS.

But then why would you want to do that, except to look flashy?
Why do people keep pointing guns at me?

I used to play a lot of old games on a laptop many years ago and I didn't run into any trouble with those, but they were much older ones from the 94/95 period like Doom, Descent, Raptor and so on.
