Okay. First lets check if it's the mods you installed that caused the problem.

Rename your data folder and make a new folder to replace it. Copy your pilots folder into the new data folder.

That should fix your problem.

The message itself says you're out of memory but I'm puzzled as to how that could happen if all you did was add some more ships.

I'm assuming you've reset and tried closing down all unneeded applications before running FS2.

hmmmm. Did you install the new ships as .pof files or .vp? I doubt that rogue .vp files are really your problem but I can't think of anything that could cause you to run out of memory if things worked fine before.

You may have to just reinstall FS2.

I dont understand it.. i have 1024MB memory. (100used.)
and the project file or what it is has never exist.
is are pof files, no vp.

Have you modified the tables, ships.tbl in particular? Standard FS2 has a cap on how large they can be. Although I guess renaming the data directory should have fixed that, unless you have some custom VPs in the FS2 root directory as well.

i have NO custom vp in the directory.
changed are the hud, ship and weapons table files, i've deleted them (are in the original vp as backup) but it doesnt change!

I'm at a loss then. But there is one thing in your error message that tells something - that it can't open gamepalette1-01. This is a pcx file that's supposed to be in the sparky_fs2.vp file found in your root directory, so I suppose you could check if for some unknown reason it's not there now.

  • Thing, man like
Hmm  the only time i`ve ever got that it couldn`t find (gamepalette1-01) was when I used a modified version of FS2.exe like one of the FS2open sorcecode modifications..

As to why your out of memory, could it be a memory leak, i`m just taking a stab in the dark here so this may not be whats causing that error.

(edit) Oh boy, I just noticed that your error indicates you are not useing a modified FS2.exe, then I`m dumbfounded. Sorry for my ill fated input..

(edit2) What version windows are you using?

Simpicity of character is the natural resualt of profound thought

I had the same problem...
But unfortunately I never figured out what was causing it. I simply made a new install and then when I was sure it was qorking fine I erased the the bad one. Next time I tried modding I made a NEW install for messaing aorund (So I had a clean , mod free version to play FS@ main with, and a second one for modding). It seemed to work fine and I neve got that probklem again...    Try DLing teh game pallete pcx from the subspace fix... that might be part of it? Also go to your virtual memory (Uknow how much memory your comp REALLY uses..I boosted mine to 4GIG.. Even then I still ahve major slowdown sometimes but it 'chugs' along... Whoo Whooo... ;)

L8tr! (I hipe you figure it out and then explain it to us!!!
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

Not certain what you're asking here. Are you using the HotU download or do you have a full copy of FS2? If the latter I'd suggest using the procedure mentioned in the directory section of my FAQ (look in my sig) to install mods. That won't work if you're using the HotU version cause of the way it's set up.
