How bout this? Some of us keep our eyes on the scource code via CVS and we post the updates in the forum. It would be pretty simple for a person with a fast connection and alot of free time (like me :D)

we would be able to keep up with the scource updates without bugging the coders to death. It would also be more convineint for ppl who dont actually want to keep uptading huge lines of code everyday...

Hey, you guys could be like SCP groupies, without the sexual overtones. :D

Seriously though, personally, I can't make heads n'or tails of code, so having someone dumb it down for me so I know what's goin' down at the SCP would be a real advantage.  Of course, sometimes the only way I can understand what's going on is if people post screenies, but there's already a thread for that.

So in my opinion... Yes!

would it be easier for CVS updates to be sent to a script that puts them up on a webpage somewhere?  i would imagine it possible since it sends us emails.

could it be posable to have CVS auto-compile a new exe every time someone commits a new change and upload it to our web site?

well an individual not associated with the SCP can compile and host these new exes. Of course now, if someone did this they would have to also say basically there could be some serious bugs in this build, use at your own risk.

Have to talk to Styxx about that, but should definitely be distantly possible with HLP 2.0.

Would it be possible for the CVS to automatically build the ultimate space sim for us? :p
SERIOUSLY...! | {The Sandvich Bar} - Rhino-FS2 Tutorial | CapShip Turret Upgrade | The Complete FS2 Ship List | System Background Package

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Well, whatever it is, I'm sure it's possible with HLP 2.0...

Wait, what did you say? :p

Definitely. Just call the executable fs2_open_alpha, and mention infinite times that the executable might not even run at a given time and may have plenty of bugs. I saw that on some project I was once following, it I personally think it's a great idea.

It's possible, but I donlt know how to do it, nor am I certain warpcore is set up to compile it.

We'd need the make files for GCC, that worked for making both Linux AND w32 builds.

Right now, all the builds you see are compiled by someone who has visual studio.
