File formats question
.dds, .dib, .png,

What kind of graphics formats are these and what are the differences between them?

.dib is a device independant bitmap.  i think .bmp format with a different extension

.png (I think) is the best web image format EVER. It's suppose to be just as small as .jpg and .gif but much better image quality.
I have big plans, now if only I could see them through.

.dds = direct draw surface
.dib = .bmp = device independant bitmap
.gif = compuserve interchange formart
.jpg = JPEG [forget the expansion, it's some industry image standards group]

Photo... I'm retty sure, but it's besides the point... PNG's are huge usually... but do have the best quality.

IIRC, .PNG is a lossless format, so quality should be good. The size is large compared to .JPG (smaller than a .BMP, though), but you do get an alpha channel.

Also, isn't .DDS the DXTC* format??
