Some minor questions about FREDing in general.

1.) backgrounds- how do we know what co-ordinates we enter into pitch, bank and heading correspond to what is seen in the mission. Are these 3 factors relevant to where Alpha 1 is facing in the start of the mission, or is it something else?
Would it also be possible to give set background co-ordinates that look really, really cool, since i simply suck at it :D

2.)Ganymede rings- i'm trying to use this, but they refuse to dock with the orion i just create (the option doesnt even show up in the menu)

More questions as and when i think of em- any help is appreciated!

Well you should have known to check the walkthrough first. It's got the answer to your first question.

The next three fields determine the position and orientation of the currently highlighted image. P stands for pitch (degrees above the horizon), B is bank (degrees of clockwise rotation), and H is heading (degrees left along the horizon). The default position (0, 0, 0) is straight ahead when you open FRED2. These numbers all range from 0 through 359.

As for docking Orions If you mean you want an orion to be in the middle of one you simply place it there in FRED :D

Making nice backgrounds and experiencing the system FS2 is using for this goal, you need time to spend with it.
If you accept an advice from me: Do not use nebula images scaled more than 4-4. It would look dirty. The optimal scaling is 3x3 and maybe 3x2, or 2x3.

Actually they belong in the FS campaigns forum. It even says so on the forum description :)

(someone should change the description 'cos people (ie, me) are gettin confused...)

I find, if I put in a bmp. at 0,0,0, then change one dimension at a time, then see where it "moves" that makes puttin' in backgrounds quite easy.

Easier still, just download Sandwich's FS background file, and get all the complete backgrounds ready to go.
