Help getting computer to work
Yeah, the CMOS and BIOS are the same thing (I think CMOS is actually the memory used to store BIOS settings or something - mostly the two terms are used interchangeably).
According to the manual the jumper is on pins 2&3 at the moment - you should just be able to move the jumper to pins 1&2 for about 10secs or so (maybe give it a minute) and then move it back. It's basically the same as removing the battery but (in theory) less awkward.

I've never worked out what makes that sound while it's counting ram and a lot of recent machines I've worked on don't seem to do it anymore so I'm not sure how much faith to put in it, but you can use any ram stick that the motherboard supports to test with if you just want to check if the ram stick has died but the dimm sockets themselves are good.

You mentioned testing hardware in another pc before putting it in this machine - have you/are you able to try the processor in another machine?

Good luck :)

Help getting computer to work
Well, I did the resetting of the bios but I have no idea if it worked or if I did it right or not.  Where the jumper was supposed to be there wasn't anything.  That switch was empty.  So I was hoping that that was maybe the cause for the problems.  I took a jumper from one of my cd-roms (that I wasn't using in the cpu yet).  I put it on and tried the computer.  Nothing :(  So I tried to reset the jumper.

I had everything unplugged and did the jumper switch in the clr_cmos as it said in the instructions for 10 minutes and then put it back to normal.  Turned it on and still nothing :(

I'm at my wits end...
