If I were to redesign that ship, I'd use a lot of tubular sections, now, kind of lots of huge pipes, and I'd make the hull plates so they look like  they're placed over more of those pipes.

I never really watched B5 ( save for the movies ), so I couldn't tell, but the B5 ships I've seen didn't have tubular structures at all
Anyway, no need to argue over that since the "if" is to be taken as "it will never be done".
