aldo, I just verifyed that it happens even in the original fs2 models (althought it's harder to notice on lower polys ships), and sometimes even on lod0!
check the orion for example. Or cruiser02.pof, freighter02.pof, corvette2s-01, bomber05 ..... and many others
If it happens in game it's a truely weird thing!

btw there should be an high poly cob2fs2 somewhere

Yeah...but not to the same degree, which (granted) may be due to the lower smoothing angle (looks like around 45 degrees, I think PCS only does 90).  It's certainly not so obvious.... the knossos seems ok I think, albeit maybe it's just the polycount.

Um... damn.  I have virtually no idea what's happening, now... maybe this is a problem which will become increasingly apparent with higher poly models.

aldo you can use any angle in truespace (at least, in truespace6, just right click on the autofacet icon). The default is 30° IIRC.
BTW, yes, increasing pcount makes it more evident, and it doesn't seem to happen on all the :v: models, but since it's happening sometimes on the main lod (like in you case) it's very bad.
I'm reporting it in the scp forum
