I downloaded a copy of the Babylon Project at the weekend and have been playing bits and pieces when I can. In normal FS2 it seems to run fine but in fs2_open its crashing all over the place. I understand the project is not yet geared to run under fs2_open so I guess it shouldnt be a huge surprise.
I suppose other MOD's that are designed to run though fs2_open will behave better, but Im interested in playing other/all avaliable MOD's so heres my offer. In exchange for what I will outline later I will play though your MOD with a full debug exe. As well as providing filenames and numbers on crashes it will allow me to check the value of variables to see exactly whats going wrong.
Im not promising to fix every bug I come across but I will document them in as much detail as I can which should make it possible for allocate the bug to whoever is responsible for that bit of code, also it will be entered into Mantis so that there is a perminent record of the problem. With the extra info I should be able to give fixing anything should be a lot easier, most bug fixing time is spent on finding out what the problem is. However I will try and fix ones that are within my means though.
I would have thought it would be very worthwhile even if your MOD has no known issues. What do I want in return?
1. Access your one of your Fred'ers. Some bugs will in the end probably fall down to table settings, mission
files etc so I would like to be able to discuss this with someone from your project.
2. I want someone (one per MOD interested), this can be anyone really to join the tester list (see SCP forum) and help out in testing with and without your MOD active.
At the moment theres the extra bonus that Im working on Fred2_open OGL so I may well check your missions with my new code.
Send me an e-mail if you are interested with the following.
Your HTL name
Your project name
e-mail address of Fred'er
e-mail address of person for tester list
Direct as possible link to MOD download site
If no-ones interested I'll probably just keep on going with the TBP, contact from anyone working on that would be welcome as well. I've already squashed two crash bugs for them although I suspect they were actually caused by bad tables etc.
